So I was just arrested for killing a guard after I had paid my bounty off. This has never happened to me before.

If you pay off your bounty and then kill a guard you will be arrested.

this has happened to me before and i think its because another guard is near by when you pay it off but it resets because they both have you targeted for the same thing just a guess though

But the thing is I paid it waited about 24hrs game time and was walking around the city came across a guard telling people to step back. I talked to him and he was like what do you know about this and I had the choice of I don't know or I'm not saying anything. I went with the I'm not saying anything. I then had the choice of going quietly or I would rather die...well you know the drill I just thought it was kinda cool that even tho I had paid one guard off I still got in trouble. I don't care what anyone says I enjoy the game for what it is and don't try to tear it apart. I play for the fun of it.

I just recently had a situation in Markarth where everyone acted as though I had killed someone when I hadn't. And later was confronted by a guard in Riverwood for murder (though no bounty appeared in my journal), resisted arrest, retreated and returned three days later to find that I no longer had a bounty of any kind.
