I loved Fallout 3, I spent many many hours on that game. I'm going to love playing this game too, I can already tell. However, my first complaint is that Mister New Vegas (the radio guy) his volume for speech is WAY too loud. It makes me jump every time he comes on the air. I wear headphones as I share a living space and a game like Fallout can be too loud and disturbing to others (gunshots, explosions, screams, profanity etc). I like to have the radio on almost all the time. I really enjoy to listen to the oldie styled music... but the song volume is LOW while the radio guys is LOUD and it seems like it's reversed... most of the songs are peaceful and melodic, meaning you need to have the volume turned up to really enjoy them... then the radio guy comes on and its HEY ITS MIIIIIIISTER NEW VEGAS.... Anyway, at least he's not as bad as Three Dog, I hated that guy's fake sounding voice so much.

Anyway, second complaint. What the .. is up with hacking?? Why can't I press the A button to bypass the login screen in this game like in F3? I just spent 20 minutes trying to hack an (easy) computer...why? Because the login screen makes you watch the guy type an entire paragraph every. single. time. I'm not good with logic word puzzles. In fact, I hate them. In fallout 3 I would just logout and login to guess the password. Maybe they didn't want you to be able to do that. Maybe they want you to have to sit there for half an hour everytime you find a computer terminal. I don't know why. The locks are always really easy to pick. Why make it such a pain to hack? It's really not fun at all now. And I have the achievement for hacking over 50 terminals for Fallout 3 so patience isn't an issue with me.

Anyway, I'm sure those will be my only problems with the game, so the rest is gravy good job with the game guys, I just wish these two problems could be dealt with a patch someday. They'd be easy to fix


EDIT: *puts hand to forehead* Okay. I just left the room with the terminal I was complaining about and the game froze on me. ALREADY.

The game has been in my xbox for THIRTY MINUTES.

for the radio you do have audio option just change the vol level

well 2 options for comp hacking get it right the frist time or load from before you log out

Huh? If I lower the volume, the music is too quiet and therefore not enjoyable. That isn't really an option might as well turn it off then. And you can't save while hacking, so even if I load a save I have to watch the slow login screen being typed...

I know this may not help you, but on the PC if I mouse-click in the middle of the terminal screen it'll bypass that start stuff...but I do still have to wait a couple seconds. I assume normally the "A" button is akin to a mouse click? Have you tried another button? Hubby's played games via controller where the keys seemed to be reversed from what the game said, before.

I didn't like the radio/voice either, for that reason. At least over speakers. I discovered over the headphones it's a lot better/I can set it where it's not such a problem.

The first time you log in, you can try and skip the initial typing screen (on PS3, I just hit the X button a couple times) and it'll take you to the hack screen relatively quickly.

However, I agree that watching the whole animation when you log-off before successfully hacking and log back in to reattempt the hack, is annoying.



Welcome to New Vegas! You're about to experience such frustration. A lot.

But when it works, it's a great game. Instead of complaining, I personally just think about all the other, fun, non-svcky moments when I play. Even with the frustration of having to restart the console when the game freezes, it's a very fun game, IMO.

i was gonna say there r mods to fix your problems...but then i saw xbox...i fee bad for people on consols ...and i feel bad for tha rep of tha game becuase it really is fun despite its differences and issues....but people on consols that cant fix issues...unless a patch comes...then will tha patch fix all tha things you concerned about? prolly not

I originally played Fallout 3 on ps3 and had that problem with Three Dog, but then somehow it was perfectly fine when I played it on pc. For New Vegas, I cannot figure out how to balance the volume again.

The music valume and mr vegas voice volume are controlled by different settings. mr vegas is controlled by the master volume while radio is controlled by music volume.

As for hacking.. to curtail people just backing in and out of the hack they slow you down aq smidge on the second and other ettempts.

I just tested this and lowering the master volume lowers the volume of the radio music as well. Master volume is for all sound effects.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I hated hacking in FO3. I'm just not good at things like that, and they had to go and make it more annoying? It's too bad they couldn't have had a different mini-game for hacking...

Have you tried lowering the voice volume? I don't know if that has an effect on any of the radio host's voices, but it's worth a shot.

It's not written anywhere you HAVE to do the hacking. They added the delay to deter exploiters.

As for Mr. New Vegas, I agree, drives me nuts, but I just keep the radio off because the regular soundtrack is awesome anyway.

Very true you gotta appreciate the amount of freedom the Fallout series offers the player. I really love this type of sandbox game. However, what kind of explorer would I be if I didn't endeavor to unlock every treasure I come across?

I can't help it, the OCD in me won't let me ignore it, every time I see a computer I have the skill requirement to hack, I can't leave until I hack it.

Hah, well that's your own issue then. I Don't think the devs can be blamed for that then.

If you escape from a computer hack, just back up a couple steps and try again. I might be my imagination but it seems like the delay goes away.
Hacking is my least favorite thing about the two recent Fallouts. Well, freezes. Then hacking.

If you dont like waiting for this mini game wait till you see the one for the slots that you get for rolling and ending and trying to roll again real fast. And i wish there were more of them : ( ANd what i do i always hack the computer but i dont unlock the safe/door i just close it .ANd then i pick the lock , you get exp for both that way
