Just built my 1st ever gaming PC...

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 11:14 pm

Scary isn’t it? With zero knowledge I had to resort to YouTube and Google through out the process. Not having an “antistatic” bracelet constantly bothered me but I think I stayed static free...

Right now the machine says “Starting Windows”...

I should have made the wires neater in the tower huh? Some folks on YouTube had real neat looking setups... I tried... argh... I hope this works...

Welcome to the world of gaming. (PC Specific)

May I ask, what are your specs?

Congrats on freshly built PC, but what exactly is your Skyrim hardware or software issue? :)

Congratulations !

Don't worry too much about the cables.
A few years ago, harddisks (and cd/dvd players) were connected to the motherboard via "PATA-cables". Those were those wide ribbon-like cables. They could block a lot of the airflow in your case. Nowadays all HDDs, SSDs, dvd players use SATA. Those small red cables. There is much less risk in blocking airflow through your case.

I used to be worried about static too. I think it's not that bad. Because nobody uses those wristbands anymore. Just try to not touch the metal on your components more than necessary.

Good luck installing Windows. That sometimes causes more frustation than building the hardware. :)

Nice specs. You made sure to put Windows 7 64 bit on there right? It shouldnt need to find your modem. It may look for a network connection, but it doesnt need it right away.

Also, not really Skyrim related.
