It's just a game...

Indeed Skyrim is just a game, so why do people take the TES series so seriously? i was just browsing the forums as you do, when i came across a thread (now locked) where quite a few members were having some big argument, and it seems kind of pointless to me, arguing about a game over the Internet, even if you do prove the other guy wrong or whatever it means nothing, Beth isn't going to say ohhh this guy said we should take voice actors out of the game so i guess we should do it :/ you have to remember...this is 2012, people want bandits to yell and an old guy to tell a story! it might have worked when Morrowind came out but it just wouldn't nowadays, i have Morrowind and i think its a great game... its a game from a different time though, it worked then because that's what the masses wanted, so don't fret their not going to take away voice acting just for a small percent of you that want a bland-ish game. :P

Now don't get me wrong i'm not saying don't discuss whats wrong with Skyrim, because of course the are a lot glitches and what not, but instead of whining about everything and being negative try to look at how they could improve upon what's already there.

Well... I guess that's all i have to say, gratz if you read all that :P

Threads like these are even more pointless than any of the other threads. Discussion about what is good in a game doesn't lead to a discussion. Thus, we discuss the 'bad' or 'not good enough' features of the game.

how can you say that discussing good things about the game cant lead to a discussion? a discussion is a discussion, doesn't matter if its about the faults or the great things. :)

Its true the tone of these forums has dropped to sad levels lately.
Most of what you see here are (often newer) gamers complaining about what they wanted to see,and the more mature and often veteran players trying to either prove a point or make others see truth through facts.

My personal motivation in trying to do so is because of all the banter and shouting on here, the TES series name is being pulled through the dirt.
There's a difference IMO between constructive criticism and blindly shouting insults, and it would be a shame if the series' name would be sullied because of such ignorant behaviour.

Sadly the voices of reason are being lost in all this madness.

No. It's not just a game. It's a video game.

You've never heard people get passionate over their hobbies before? Yelling at the TV during football, waving their hands when their son paints the racing stripe crooked, punching the wall when their favorite aeronaut has crashed.. okay I actually have no idea what other peoples' hobbies are. But to get excited about them seems to be part of the point.

Look, unfortunately the constant negativity in the forums of late have sent people away. I am not talking about posts about glitches or bugs - it's the constant attempt by a subset of members to gainsay even the most remotely positive statement with constant harping on their personal pet peeves about Bethesda, this particular game, or gaming in general.

It's wearing of course, but this too shall pass. We don't expect a super-fun-time happy sunshine forum and all, but we do expect members to be respectful. Jumping in on a thread where someone is kind of happily talking about the game with a negative "Well, Bethesda dumbed down the game because of this and such" is known as thread-crapping. We will be putting the kibosh on that for off-topic when appropriate, and when we see it.

I am NOT saying you can't say negative stuff, but you don't have to be repetitively paraphrasing and posting stuff and you DO need to be quite a bit more welcoming to new members. I really don't give a crap if you've been playing RPG since the first caveman carved out a story on cave walls - be nicer. This forum should be a welcoming place. That is directed at the usual suspects. You know who you are. So do we. :stare:

Having said that, this thread is really complaining about complainers, sorry. We do lock these threads, though I truly understand the sentiment.
