Just got Skyrim for pc recently.. Way to many crashes.....

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 1:34 pm

Lately since I started getting to a higher lvl, the game has been crashing way to often. Earlier it was like every other loaded game it would crash when trying to enter Solitude or any building is this normal? I don't have any mods installed but Water mod, Skyrim HD Lite, texture mods for creatures from Slof's Hive. I didn't have this much crashing with OB especially not so close to together. it's starting to drive me up the mountain... hehe.

Did you play the game without the mods and did you have crashes then?

Also make sure that your sound in windows is set to 24bit 41000hz and ffdshow is removed or tesv.exe is put on its exceptions list.

Also upgrade your drivers and game version. It also helps if you list your PC specs and the settings you play at.

Hey Kazekage, I have seen this somewhere else. Is this supposed to help with the crashes? sound troubles?

...and op, your pc should be running this pretty well. maybe not on ultra, but pretty well. like what was said, drivers, disable mods, clean up pc(defrag and such).

Get rid of 2.4 GBs of whatever you have been loading. Max for a game player is a single GB.

I would look to one of your mods as the culprit, or an interaction of several mods or a bad load order. Try testing by starting a new game with no mods loaded and play for a while and see if you still get crashes. If not, work on your mods. Get BOSS and use the mod load order it suggests. Try playing with one mod at a time disabled to try to identify the one causing the problems. It's safest to do all this testing on new games as the mods can make changes to your save games that can then still affect stability once they are removed. Or try testing with your current saves, but if there is no improvement do try with a new game to be sure. If you tweaked you ini files that could be contributing as well, especially with all those memory intensive texture mods you installed.

Only mods loading are the update.esm, Craftable Templar Armor.esp, Dark Knight Armour.esp, Water-get wet.esp, Water.esp, Then just texture replacer mods like Skyrim HD Lite, Slof's Trotting Horses.esp, Slof Retexs of horses & Shadowmere & other retextures on Slof's site. How would I go about getting rid of 2.4gbs of the pagefile correct? But before I even installed those and skyrim hd it crashed on me when entering dragonsreach & exiting. So not sure what it is. When the game crashes it just closes nothing about an error or anything.
