Just how much gold do the designers think I need?

It's just ridiculous. In dungeons ever other chest has a high end enchanted weapon, or some gems. Then there are the gem geodes. The amount of ebony and glass weapons I find laying around is ludicrous since they're supposed to be rare. And what is there to spend your gold on? Nothing.

Does anyone really enjoy finding loot when you've already got 50 000gp? Wouldn't it be better if good loot was more sparse, like at the end of the dungeon or on tough enemies, not just in some chest in a corner somewhere?

And if you could have your wish, what would you prefer as a reward? Gold, loot? Personally I would love to find a hidden quest or something. Or at the end of the dungeon I find an NPC who has been held prisoner and I release them. I always love that.

All the gold. All of it. Dragons like shiny things...

Seriously though, I don't care how much loot we find. It's alright to have 100 000 gold pieces at hand if a house costs 200 000. Well thought-out, reactive economy is the problem and sadly, very few games get it right.
