just a Question, Is Fallout going to look like FO1&2 or FO3?

Post » Thu Jul 07, 2011 2:07 am

Just asking. It doesn't really matter which one 'cause i love 'em all but just wanted to know.

Ok the truth is that i made a bet with him saying is gonna be Dungeon Crawler style again. He said First person because of the stupid Teaser site.

No one knows except the developers. There was some "leaked alpha screen-shots" but they didn't give out anything reliable. It has been widely discussed on the forum on several threads. Image

They said they are using the Earthrise Engine. Look it up in youtube and witness what they are working with. The game can be amazing. Image

Well as most people know by now, gamesas and Bethsada had a huge fight over the rights of whos going to make the Fallout MMO (For more details google Fallout lawsuit bethsada and gamesas).

But really when it comes down to it, I think the biggest topic is what do the players like. gamesas has given us Fallout 1, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics, While Bethsada has given us Fallout 3 (and others that arent part of the Fallout series).
While gamesas has given us some great games, Bethsada did show us that video games can be taken to new heights and be even more enjoyable than they previously were.

While Im not trying to barf alot of [I <3 Bethsada] advertising, a smart player  is going to ask themselves which one would you rather see made into a MMO, (your latest work in the Fallout Universe for each company).
 A turn-based/real-time tactical role-playing game - Fallout Tactics - Brotherhood of Steel
OR
 an action role-playing game - Fallout 3

To end I'll just say this... Good Luck to gamesas, Surprise the hell outta all of us, PLEASE we wants it.

My bet is that gamesas won't mimic Bethesdas Fallout universe, because that would give Beth another reason sue them. To be honest, I think they'll just brush off the old Van Buren documents and polish them up and fit them to an MMO. It won't be turnbased, it won't be FPS, it will be a basic MMORPG (AO, WOW, FE etc.) and all actions are fitted to that...

It's simple, because they cannot fvck up, this is gamesass last chance for the Fallout franchise. No distributor would spit money in a project that is an turnbased MMO, nor an FPS MMO because they aren't making a big enough profit or have a good track record to be a safe bet.

It will look like Fallout Online.

I believe I saw a screenshot a while back and it looks like most current MMOs: Standard third-person adventure style viewpoint.

Depends on who you ask, most dedicated Fallout fans were against the Fallout 3 changes.

Bethesda isn't suing gamesas because they are making a Fallout MMO but for other reasons regarding the Fallout IP. The MMO is licensed from Bethesda so they have access to the Fallout universe. If you want to get technical, even the old gamesas stuff is now part of the "Bethesda universe". ;)

gamesas is the distributor/publisher of the MMO, they are also the developer along with Masthead. IIRC (from the Fallout Wiki) the MMO will only need a minimum of 10,000 active subscribers for gamesas to be able to continue working on it, that's pretty achievable regardless of the style IMO. Heck, if it did take the classic approach the Fallout fan sites alone would be enough to keep the game running with upwards of 100,000 users!

i think that the legal system will disagree with you

highly arguable.

that's easy, FO2 story + tactical roleplay game OR FPS with RPG mechanics, gamesas any day.

(Hi there guys)

The engine looks okay. I've seen more out of the Everquest 2 engine but that's just me. As always, the appearance isn't nearly as critical as how they do things. If it's a trade-off on immersiveness and graphics, I'd rather it look like fallout 1. xD

If anyone else has played Fallen Earth, I could see FO being a lot like that.

3rd person view which jumps into 1st person view when aiming.

I think we can be almost certain that it won't have turn based combat. It'll be either real time fps style, or Fallout tactics-ish continous turn-based (unlikely IMO).

Why? The average MMO uses an system very similar to that... It's used in the all of the most popular MMOs out there today. APs = DPS, or at least almost equals ;)

I think its dumb how both would go to the point of suing i mean come on they both made great games with plenty of creativity to go around they should be working together to make something we havent seen before from the fallout universe. Idk thats just my opinion.

Maybe this is stupid, but if they would have separate servers for seperate types of gameplay, e.g. a server with turnbased combat, which would look like the classic games, and a server with fallout 3 style gameplay.
i know this costs a lot of money to develop and they nearly have to design the game again, but perhaps this will solve the problems with classic vs f3? maybe they should make a poll and first release the type of gameplay which was voted for the most, and after the game is succesfull enough they can release with an expansion pack? *How did you suvive that?*
*Didn't,got killed!*

IMHO not goingto happen. Basicly it would be like devloping two different games.
The only way I see mmorpg is a real time based game (come one who will have time to wait for all others to end their turns?).
But who knows I can be proven wrong.

Wow I just imagined the ever present cyber trolls getting a wild hair up their ass and deciding to not use their turn but instead just sit there and waste everyones time. :(
