No, I'm not saying that there are so many variety of armors. After all, there are only Archmage, Bandit, Beggar, Blades, Chef, Daedric, Dark Brotherhood, Dragonplate, Dragonscale, Draugr, Dwarven, Ebony, Elven, Falmer, Farm Clothes01, Farm Clothes 02, Farm Clothes 03, Farm Clothes 04, Fine Clothes 01, Fine Clothes 02, Forsworn, Glass, Imperial, Iron, Jester, Mage Apprentice, Mage Journeyman, Merchant, Miner, Monk, Necromancer, Nightingale, Steel Plate, Orcish, Prisoner, Redguard, Robe Dark Brotherhood, Robe Mythic Dawn, Sons of Talos, Stormcloaks, Steel, Studded, Thalmor, Thieves Guild, Warlock, Wedding, Wench, Wolf....

Okay, so there are more than twenty, but it pales in comparison to the variety of items you get in random leveled loot.

Did you know that there are exactly 106 variants for Daedric set? Out of those 106, 5 are base items, and the 101 items left are divided by groups of three of around 33 sets, varying from helmets to boots.

Multiply that to the number of armors that gets the same enchantment sets, which are:
Daedric, Dragonplate, Dragonscale, Dwarven, Ebony, Elven, Glass, Iron, Orcish, and Steel, and you can already find 1060 pieces of equipments in random loot

This is not counting those that don't get the same enchantment sets, which are anything but the 10 above

I honestly have never thought of types of armor in Skyrim, or what kind of enchantment can I find in chests. It is mind-blowing

If not mind-numbing.

After all, someone had to make all those items, right?

What do you mean by variations?

You mean they actually look different?

No, that is not variation, that is applying a simple system to a limited set of armors.

Besides, there are to few properties on each armor, making the choice boil down to which one has the highest armor rating.

Armor rating is probably last thing I look for.

First is the looks, second is the enchantment it provides, and then comes armor rating.

No, they don't. I meant variations as in they all have different enchantments in their group :) even if they're the same Daedric Armor, the enchantment they have gives you option

Then we disagree on the meaning of "variation". 20+ looks to choose from with 12 main armor types (I missed Hide and Scaled) and various enchantment to further make you choose is quite a lot, considering many games these days (mostly MMORPGs, though) don't have that many options to choose from. Mostly they boil down to wearing the best of the best, and every character will end up wearing the same armor.

Completely irrelevant. You don't call Cristiano Ronaldo poor just because Bill Gates has more money than him. 1200 items are plenty. It's the little things that we have to recognize. Hint: each and every single entry of these 1200+ items are hand-edited.

The job itself is easy enough everybody can do it, but it's so mind-numbing nobody will ever want to do it.
