Just wanted to share

My mage happened upon a spot (deliberately ambiguous to avoid spoilers) where he ended up exploring a deep, frozen cave that was inhabited by Falmer and contained a massive Charus nesting ground. I was playing without the HUD and without the music on Adept. I also was utilizing the Kinect so I didn't have to pause the action at all. I have to tell you, it was friggin' awesome. The sounds, the sights, the sense of doom. When I first saw the chamber that led to the main Charus nest filled with charus pods, I was authentically disgusted... and afraid. The fighting was intense as well... I was totally immersed.

Really? Wow... I'm a level 11 Mage and had to really strategize to get through it (I accidentally fell off the ledge into the first pit and was assaulted... my Atronachs didn't stand a chance). I still have poop stains on my undies.

Same here. Those are some creepy tough as fossilised trees buggers. My current Orc character had to retreat from such an area recently due to not being stocked up on health potions and not being a magic user who could heal himself.

I'm playing a spellsword, and at the time a single ...bug i could take, but not if it had friends of any kind. The areas with many of them required some running away and a lot of ranged attacks. The ...boss at the end i had to kill from the ledge so it couldn't hit me with melee attacks, as that would have been one hit kill. I had magic staffs in addition to spells to help with ranged attacks, and one rank in "bone crusher" that helped getting trough the regular bugs armor.

Not easy, but very entertaining ^_^ Next time i'll try to clear a dungeon with a Dragon Priest at such low level. Maybe Ragnvald, as that is easiest to reach from a town.

yea its alot harder for a true mage with no armor. The 1st time i stumbled across it was early on with a mage who still only had novice spells and no potions...i had no idea what i was getting into until i got to that last battle area and died a whole bunch of times before beating it. I barely made it out alive with my mage at lvl 15 or so but my barbarian would probably just laugh at all those cockroaches :)

Getting through the "minor" first chamber was a beast, especially after accidentally falling in. There were at least 4 of the small charus'. But when I got to the main chamber I was more careful and launced Fury at every charus I saw while also summoning an Atronach. But the Fury spell wouldn't take on the queen and she was a beast. I just kept summoning and retreating as it would tear through my atronachs. Then I had to constantly run around the stalagmites to keep out of range from it's bites, occassionally swinging my bound sword at it while summoning. I was freaking out, man! BTW, Sven finally died in there... my evil mage took him along so that he'd eventually die after he ruined the elf's chances at hooking up with Camilla in Riverwood. That way Camilla would forever be a lonely spinster, the elf's heart would be broken, and Sven would have died protecting a mage who didn't give a rat's ass about him. It worked out perfectly... muhuhahahaha... except, he survived longer than I thought he would.
