As topic says, is the game worth playing at all? How easy is it get into and I read its a D&D game, since I have no clue on how you play dungeons and dragons and what the dice rolls even mean, will I even enjoy it?

Thanks guys.

You come onto a primarily RPG forum and ask if Baldur's Gate is good?

I didn't realize there was a Baldur's Gate 4. Most d&d games roll the dice for you behind the scenes so you don't need to worry about it. I was able to get through Baldur's Gate 2 just fine and I knew nothing about d&d at the time.

According to BioWare logic and following the meaning of spiritual successor, Dragon Age II is officially the replacement for Baldur's Gate 4. Isn't that dandy? :whistling:

OP, you'll do fine. As long as you can deal with an isometric view, Baldur's Gate I and II aren't too hard to get into or play, at all. I've always managed just fine and don't know squat about playing actual DnD.

The game does a fairly good job of teaching you the basics through its descriptions. I remember it was one of the first RPGs I ever played, and still to this day I don't know the full rules to any edition of D&D, but I picked up enough to understand the most important principles. Though you might want to look up what THAC0 stands for (http://dungeons.wikia.com/wiki/THAC0) since this is what forms the basis of your chances in combat.

The beauty of cRPGs is that all the dice-rolls are automatic, so just play the game as you'd expect (big strong warriors in melee, wise wizards throwing fireballs from the rear, etc.) and it'll generally fall into place. Or, if in doubt, consult a GameFAQ for specific strategies. The real draw of the series is the deep world you encounter: the numerous questlines, the great characters, and lengthy story.
