They will be going with expansions so that will take awhile maybe around 5-6 months from now we might see something first they need to fix the game.

Because they don't even have the content editor available yet... (Nor are the many bugs fixed. You want them adding more things to go wrong?)

They will release DLC content although they plan for it to be very big. The problem is that you will still wait a month after the first one is released before you can get it unless you're on X-Box as they signed a deal with MS to release the first one exclusively for X-Box for 30 days.

If memory serves me right, F3's came in 3 months, and New Vegas in 2 months. But those were 10 dollar DLCs. While still full of content, it was still just an addon.

Fallout 3's first DLC was trash, Dead Money for New Vegas was great

Be patient, getting anything when it first comes out is a bad idea, wait for whatever you're waiting for to be tested and then patched 15 times so it "somewhat" works. People couldn't wait to get Battlefield 3 when it came out and look how that turned out. Over 2 months after release and that game barely works.

Just be patient for the expansions.

As for the FONV DLC. It wasn't that great, all it does is raise the level cap a bit (which you don't even need), give you a couple of new weapons and breathe a bit of life into the game to play it a few more hours before it becomes "stale" again.

"Those with the money will experience it first, be it good or bad. It's a risky venture when people's lives are depending on them." - Myself.

I find those who begin asking for updates and continuances in their games to be the ones who don't take the time to experience what the game actually has to offer. Moreso, the idea that beating the game has been burned into most gamers mind since Nintendo. These games are more in-depth than the simple 8-bit graphics of Mario, or the updated Sonic the Hedgehog. You don't strive to beat the game these days, you strive to experience it instead.

Need for Speed, Mortal Kombat, and Diablo are designed for you to actually beat them, but a sandbox game such as this has no specific ending. The main quest itself is only the main quest if you choose it to be. There is no set routine of what you're supposed to do in the game, which makes it actually have no ending. Therefore, extended content is not necessary at this time simply for the fact that most haven't experienced the content yet.

You don't strive to beat the game these days, you strive to experience it instead.
When you beat the main "enemy" of the game, accomplish what is intended in the storyline, you have beaten the game, the rest (exploring, dungeons etc...) is stuff to fill in the cracks.

With Oblivion, banish Mehrunes Dagon, (the main quest line). After doing that, you "beat" the game, all the other stuff is icing on the cake. It is also what makes the game awesome.
Spoiler
In Skyrim, kill Alduin, same logic.
