Katla is a woman that owns the stables near Solitude. She requested that I come kill a wolf in her house. I have found this quest through the Companions. I've just arrived, and both she and her husband are standing outside. He is even telling me to kill the wolf, and to get that thing out of here.

Neither of them have any dialog options, so I can't talk to them, just listen to them pvssyr. Neither of then saw fit to leave the front door unlocked either. I've waited a full 24 hours, and the door won't unlock at any time of day.

I don't have a key, and I can't ask for one. They won't unlock the door. If I try to pick the lock, and I did, they report me for breaking and entering because they are standing right outside. Any ideas on this one? How can I bump this quest into unlocking that door so that I can kill the stupid wolf?

yeah... got the same problem.... irritating, must be a glitch!

I ran into this problem as well. If you know the invisibility spell use that to unlock the door without being seen. If not try and get an invisibility potion.

Another option is to pickpocket the key and just walk in, but if your playing a good character this probably isn't an option.

If your on the PC, just use the console to unlock the door.

I had the same problem. I had to sneak around the corner of the house so they wouldn't see me and pick the lock to get in. Real dumb yeah, but I did finally get it to work and went in and killed the beast. After that all was good.
