Killable followers

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 9:29 pm

Do anyone know of a mod or console command which prevents followers from going into the "downed state" which prevents them from being killed by enemies?

I really find the fact that you can just use your follower as an immortal punching bag really unbalanced, any suggestions?

They can be killed by enemies is they're hit enough while down, it's happened to lydia and Benor so far to me.

But is there a way to prevent them from entering the downed state? I still think it's unbalanced.
It doesn't really make sense to me that enemies would just ignore the follower when they're down on their knees... seems like they should want to finish him or her :S

Yea, they can die, but not till later on when things really get tough on higher levels.
You can kill them of course (my Shout will easily do it). but traps will kill them too and even npcs at later levels if you`re not around to attract them (they stop attacking any Follower on their knees if you`re stil standing). But they must be on their knees first.

I don`t really like it this way, because it does make them a soak samage punching bag, but I guess the Devs did it to make Followers just stay alive much longer into the game.

Yea, that's why I wanted some way to remove the downed state :/
I don't know anything about modding but I'd guess that it's hard coded into the game, given that there aren't a single functioning mod out there for this. I can't find a console command which would solve it either :S

When I had Faendal he could die only by my hand. If he got in the way and took one hit from me, he would die. Then I went with Mjoll the Lioness and she can take hits from me and not die. She can't die from enemy hands either.

I think they probably put that in because your followers don't scale/level with you. Lydia you picked up at level 5 is the same Lydia (stat-wise) when you are level 50, as far as I know. Plus, I think some players would get pissed if they left a trail of follower corpses scattered across Skyrim and have none left to choose from by level 20. Especially at higher difficulties.

Enemies "go down" when they are dropped to very low health, they are just easy to kill at that point. Guess followers get some kind of damage resistance or something.
