I Killed Durnahviir twice

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 10:01 am

Hi guys,

Incredibly stupid I know, but I thought that game had glitched, so the second time you see durnahviir (after you have defeated him the first time), I snuck killed him with bow and arrow. As such, I am unable to learn the shout to summon him, and consequently Soul Tear. Any solutions to this issue available (ie another place to find him in Soul Cairn?).

Thanks, Tom.

Ps I have no close saves.

Start the game again. That's your solution

Yeah, I had this problem and tried looking for solutions everywhere. Finding him on the broken Shout wall is bs, so if someone mentions that, don't believe that. Starting over really is the only way, I've looked far and wide for a solution man.

Go away and return to the Soul Cairn later? You should not be able to kill him. Does he ever appear on that structure that looks a bit like a Word Wall, where the chest is?

You can kill him, if you sneak or sneak-range attack before you move forward enough for the dialogue to activate.

So you absorbed his soul and raided his dead body? Missing out on a few shouts is hardly that important anyway, you would not even know the opportunity had existed without looking for spoilers. We were told he would not stay dead, so he should respawn eventually.

Well not literally kill, but enough to stop him from teaching you his summon shout. And if you're a resl stickler about achievements, it svcks not being able to get Soul Tear.

Just create a new character.

What happens? Do you absorb his soul, or does he just like disappear, or does it just glitch and he is still there but can't talk.

Just create a new character.

I just loaded a save before the incident, OP needs to start over if he wants a fix.

I killed him too. He disappears just like the first time, no body to search. And with Valerica saying he’ll come back so you better hurry and you open the door and he’s there with his head lowered looking hungry and considering that out of the 40 odd dragons you’ve encountered 2 have been friendly not to mention the game tells you well in advance not to kill them it’s not silly to shoot first and ask questions later. If you don’t step before you attack he fights back he doesn’t say wait, wait let’s talk. It’s just like the fight you had with him 2 minutes before when he tried to kill you. Why a dragon pissed he constantly resurrects and wants your help to get a day pass stops resurrecting and you thusly don’t get 2 dragon shouts is silly. No reason he can’t be on the dragon wall next door to the boneyard, since when you find him in there he has his back to you and could start talking when you go in. I’m playing vamp and Dawnguard so the second time I stepped forward. It’s like Wujeetu dying off camera in Riften and because of that you can’t become Thane of the city and meet that house carl who’s a marriage possibility. Can’t kill Maven Black-briar who just gives you a couple mission 2 dragon shouts and the skooma quest they die no problem.

Also good to note that you don't have to create a whole new character. For some reason people always over look the power of uninstalling and reinstalling the DLC.
