I killed a quest NPC, what now?

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 4:09 am

I have a bit of a dilemma, I think I killed Silus Vesuius (the artifact enthusiast) >.<
Well it happened 40+ hours ago when I was in Dawnstar and the guards started attacking me. I started to run away but I guess Silus attacked/chased me when Marcurio (hubby/follower) killed him. :(
I don't have a previous save and I definitely don't want to start a new game.

I heard that after a week in-game time important NPCs will respawn. It's been more than that and still no sign of him. I have 9 trophies left for the Platinum and I can't start "Pieces of the Past" without Silus Vesuius. Anybody has an idea how I can bring him back or if the 1.4 patch will make him respawn? Thank you and I appreciate any input provided.

quest givers that have been killed sadly do not re-spawn that is why people have some issues with the deadric quests.....Lod the blacksmith beng found dead or getting killed by a dragon or in my case accidentally killing one (the cannibal) cause you did not realize that person was a quest giver or you said the wrong thing and pissed her off though i would like to know where you heard of these NPC re-spawn times id love to read up on it cause if they are meant to then the code that is meant to make this happen is not working.

and patch 1.4 im afraid probably wont bring him back either only thing i can possible suggest is revert to a save before you killed him or start again

Personally I wouldn't mind if everyone was killable by the player character as that is a bit more realistic (aka you made your choices, now live with them).

What I do have a problem with is when quest-giving NPCs are killed by other circumstances, such as dragons.

i agree yes its just a little frustrating when your not aware said person is a quest giver lol but yea i realized by killing the cannibal then finding out after she was a deadric quest giver i wouldn't get all the artifacts and i accepted that so i started a thief assassin to get them all on *fingers crossed none of them bug out :D*

I really thought I could get the Daedric quest completed since they are the best in game. I just wish quest-givers would respawn. There isn't much reality on a RPG Astoroth.

Well, one could ask for some level of reality, imho. A good RPG is essentially about choice and the consequences your choices give you, if you ask me. Therefore I'm fine with breaking quests because I killed the "wrong dude".

I don't want quests to break because the dude I need to talk to has been killed by a dragon/skeever/cliffracer, though.

It was weird because neither my follower or myself attacked the guards or him. I just went through the town and they started attacking me and no I didn't have a bounty.

That happens to me sometimes , I usually reload after that happens .
It's still possible to get the trophy , there is a way to get both the Ring of Hircine , and the Saviours Hide . I'm not sure how , look up a thread here titled daedric artifact help ( I think that's what it was called ) , maybe someone else here can help out with that .

++ In fact, I wish much of the game had more consequences.

As for a dragon killing them, that is why if I am near npc and a dragon shows up I immediately save. If any die then I reload and kill it again..

The only way you're attacked on sight is if you're on advanced state of Vampirism (normally).

Also if you kill/attack Thalmor soldiers (the ones scorting a prisoner) outside sometimes when you get in town the guards will come after you.

And if none of these applies it could be a glitch.

It was definitely a glitch then because none of the above have happened to me.
