Is there a way to get through the theater section without killing him? I like him better than some of the others, and would rather not kill him over one or two of the others, but so far all my outcomes end up with him and I shooting it out. Is there something you have to do earlier in the quest to make things end up better? My speech is 75 and I still get the shootout at the OK corral.

You had to not say anything confrontational or anything that would hurt his ego when you talk to him. Also, you had to agree to help him when you first talk to him. If not, you'll have to kill him.

And you can't force or threaten him to stay at his position when firing the Gala event (turn on the two holograms to make him willing to stay there and do his part). If you want him to live, you have to treat him right.

I didn't recall being negative to him, but I must have slipped somewhere. Never had a chance to talk. Kill or be killed was the only option.

It was easy enough to kill off Dean and avoid the holograms, I don't think he would be really worth keeping alive, that would require not threatening him and actually doing some work in the prior missions which wasn't necessary :violin:

If you let Dean live then you can't get that part of the History's Sake challenge. For some reason that part of the challenge is glitched. If you are mean to him then you can confront him about the blackmail tape you find in his room and he tells you all about it. If you are nice to him you can't use the blackmail but he tells you exactly the same anyway using a different dialogue option but you don't get the challenge pop up! I'm on my third playthrough and have let him live this time.
