Killing Morokei

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:46 pm

Okay, for the College of Winterhold main quest, I am trying to get the Eye of Magnus.
I am in the Labyrithian Dungeon, and I so far struggle through all the Ghost Draugr that at specially named, (Forgot the name), but I fortunately got through them, and now, I need to defeat the main boss, Morokei, which seems IMPOSSIBLE, so I watch walkthroughs and it seemed easy, for them. The dang boss spawns a Storm Atronach, which is impossible to kill. I need help, I don't get why the Storm Atronach spawns for me, but not for others. Any hints to kill Morokei will be appreciated

I find him easy, on all the characters I played. I summoned two dremore, and then just lightning blasted him a [censored]ton. If you have problems, you can always turn down the difficulty.

I believe it's already on Novice, not sure.

Do you know if it's on Apprentice or Master is when he spawns the Storm Atronach?

Because it's EXTREMELY HARD.

He's a named dragon priest, he's meant to be difficult. He seems impossible because every other enemy in that dungeon are on par with your character's level, wheras Morokei is usually a lot stronger, unless you leave this quest until you reach a much higher level. I got lucky, and he got stuck behind a rock for me, and would'nt attack lol, but even with that, it still took about 5 mins of casting firebolt repetitivley to kill the bastard.

It would be a tad bit easier to kill him, if he didn't spawn a Storm Atronach that shoots shocking sparks and kills me in 3 hits.

What's your race and sign? Do you have a companion? I find having Atronach makes things easier but it's too late at this point. Anyway, the first time I did this I used the drainheart bow you find a little earlier and kited him around while Lydia distracted him. Are you at a high level? I've never seen him summon a storm atronach in my four tries.

If his Atronach can kill you in 3 hits, then you can be as sure as all hell that Morokei himself can kill you in 1. Less than 1 if that were possible. Best coming back later, because even if you could deal with the Storm Atronach, Morokei himself favours lightning magic which is too quick to dodge, and from the sounds of it, too strong to block at your current level.

I am a Nord and am a Melee.
I use some magic. I have Daedric Armor and a Daedric Warhammer.
I am only level 35 ( I take me time on levels, had the game since it came out ) and don't have a follower/companion unfortunately.

Also I don't have that bow nor arrow.

Until I put Flame and Shock resist Enchantments on my armor I carried the corresponding potions. He was probably the most difficult for me to kill in the game so far because I was LVLing 2-Handed at the time (with 0 Perks) and couldn't get the job done so I had to equip my Ebony swords (all perks in 1-H that pertained to or applied to swords). I still had to use resist and healing potions though.

Edited for clarity.

Does your character have a few scrolls, a Storm Atronach or two will keep him occupied, and the staff from Saarthal (Jyrick Gaulderson?) is very useful against Morokei. I have not needed the Scrolls of Gaurdian Circle yet, but they may be used to trap him where he can not get a spell to hit you, but you can attack him, and the constant restore health buff can keep you alive/ give you a Mana recharge using Equilibrium.

All you have to do is use a bow and kite him back to the entrance hiding behind walls until you see him, shoot a couple times than retreat. I can do this without him hitting me once.

Magic ignores armour mate, does'nt matter (much) wether you have Daedric, Iron, or no armour at all. Try 'resist magick (shock)' enchanted accesories/equipment/potions.

I saw that Staff on the videos, I don't have it and have no idea where it's located...

I have like 2-3 scrolls, I tried one where everything fights anything near it, and I was thnking the dang Storm Atronach would fight it's master, but that didn't work...

It took me a few times, well more then a few :), but I eventually beat him. He did summon that storm thing for me, but I Got around that.

Kill one of the two guys keeping him trapped, then move next to the dragon priest. Shoot the second guy keeping him trapped and then turn your attention tithe priest. (save right before you "release" him too). Then I unloaded with lighting based attacks. I also had the high elf special power so my magic was always full, and combined with duel spell stunning I was able to kill him before he could summon the storm atronach.

The bow was dropped by one of those ghostly Draugrs in the previous area, you could go back and get it.
I consider lv35 to be very high since I've covered the whole map and haven't gotten that far yet

With the warrior stone and no companion, you're in a tough spot but if you made it that far it should be possible but you'll need to do it ranged to get his health down without getting too close.

So kill 1 of the priests, then go next to the Dragon priest (when it's still in its shield), then kill the other priest that is summoning him?
How did you kill him from that far though... the guy moves when you hit him... and also, I have like not many decent magic spells, hence I am a melee kind of person....

So for far range, what do you think I should use?
A bow? Magic?

It's on the altar of the boss in Saarthal.

At this point, your best bet is finding the bow and some arrows, low level spells are not going to hurt him much.

Do you know where?
Don't need a specific location, hence that would be impossible, but is the Draugr that has the bow near the Deathlord or near Morokei? (Before meeting Morokei)

It's near the deathlord, maybe even a little before. There are several ghostly Draugr that drop drainheart weapons (sword, axe and bow) but I can't remember which is which. BTW, the axe is also a good weapon because it has an absorb health enchantment.

Okay, I actually remember searching the Draugr and finding the Drainheart Sword, but not the bow.
I will search all the Draugr once it's clear.

I really hope I find it.
So if/when I do, is it really affective against the Storm Atronach (if it spawns again, which I bet it will) and Morokei?

Well, it's a decent bow but if you have low archery skills it's not going to be great against them but you don't have many options.

edit: If you decide to turn back and try again, I would recommend a couple of things: get either the Lord or Atronach stone for magic resistance, get a companion and last, get a good ranged weapon, either a good bow and lots of arrows or a couple of staves that do at least 25 damage.

Alright, now should I lure him to any specific place, such as the way you came in?
