Killing thieves

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 8:50 pm

Hello.

I have an overwhelming desire to enter the Thieves' Guild and wreak mayhem. I want to slaughter them one by one and then tear their bodies apart limb from limb before urinating on their broken corpses. But no, the savage battle rages and I hack, zap and thwack them to within an inch of their lives and they merely take a little rest and then come back for more.

I have no desire to be a part of this band of cesspit-dwellers, I wish only to inflict their destruction.

Is this not possible!? I don't get it.

Cheers
Deep

Essential NPC's are unkillable so I guess the game makers must think those particular characters are necessary for the plot of the game somehow. Believe me, there are a few characters I've come across whose parts I'd love to scatter across the four corners of skyrim. Alas!

Thank you all.

Not sure what to make of this, it does ruin the immersion somewhat. I hadn't experienced this with any other characters as yet. I wonder if on completing all the Thieves' Guild quests they will suddenly lose their immortality...

Anyway I'm off to brutally murder the unbearably annoying Cicero joker chap. Oh no, hang on, I can't. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Beautiful game though

Damn you do-gooders and fair-you-wells; a pox on all yer houses! Would that I might pilfer your pockets and leave you to the dogs, forever to stew in the penury you've inflicted upon the masses. The Dark Brotherhood is too good for the lot of you; I'd sooner seek succor in the sewers than wallow in the filth of you're foul fellowship!

P.S. Regardless of your Skyrim affiliation, you ought admit that that was some good alliteration; not great, but good.

I find it impossible to be a criminal. Robbing houses has little value. PIck pocketing can be pretty good apparently (bother loves it) but murder, yeah, doesn't work so good.

I think you should be able to kill anyone in the game, only to have them respawn after a week maybe? Just a thought. Id also like to enter a city without guards jumping on me straight away. Can't even sneak in.

Were the Morrowind forums swarmed by people whining they didn't understand why dead people couldn't give quests ?
I played the game when it came out, but I never joined the "community" and I don't remember complains on this particular matter.

So, did BSG created "essential" characters because of the players, or because Oblivion's plot required the Emperor (only for a while obviously) and Martin to survive and we are now stuck with it ?

yes, unfortunately....yes

That and they couldn't find the dwemer cube (plus other locations) which is what I think lend to quest markers.

Nope, it seems like you can't kill most of the people.

Yeah. The whole deal with essential characters is made so utterly poorly it is just overly ridiculous. There is NO need for any essential characters whatsoever -- if an npc related to quest is killed, then update that quest properly -- dont deny me the satisfaction of killing annoying characters like the Thieve's Guild or the Black Briars, only because there are quests tied to them. In fact, it would be helluva more fun if you had killed the whole Black Briar family prior the peace talks on High Hhrothgar, thus leaving the Empire without their aspiring jarl of Riften.
Awful setup, Beth. Really awful -- your one biggest mistake in this game.

I agree. Burglary should be difficult but rewarding. Mugging without killing would be another desirable option. And ride-by archery. Oh my word, I've just invented Grand Theft Dragon!!!

Maybe Riften doesn't need to be a better place? You can't change order of things. ;)
