I know it's Skyrim, land of the nords and all, but...

I love being recognized by a fellow member of my race. Sadly, if your not a nord, it is rare, outside of the often "What is it, elf/Khajiit/lizard". :(

It seems if you're not an elf/creature thing/nord then you get no recognition beyond 2-3 instances in the whollllle game.

I'm talking about Imperials.. I've had like 2 NPCs ever say anything about my race.

To be fair, I don't often go up to strangers and say "how's it going, European?" or "do you need any help, Asian?"

I've noticed how you get treated much better by the Imperials, if you play as an altmer than you do by the Thalmors. No need to say what reactions you get from the Nords, but here is one anyway. This Nord woman walks up to me at Bannered Mare and tells me to leave the tavern, because I'm an elf. So I reply, you have no right to treat me like that. And you can guess what happened after that.

Would you go up and say "Yo fellow American!"?
The Nords are ALWAYS calling me 'kinsman'.

What's modern sayings and language got to do with a fantasy game though? The game uses strange words all the time like, "I cannot best you' best, WTF, that's just bad English but well it could have been taken from an early age of language.

Wow... I've never had that happen. There's the nords always saying Kinsman if you're a Nord. I'm surprised Imperials don't get reactions, I thought they would a be a race to receive a lot of reactions.

Yeah but Americans and Europeans are not a race, the people that might live there are. Imagine if you called people by race now days, the PC police would be on to you like crazy. :P

My friend told me about this guy when he was visited Germany.. he was sitting on a bus, and some guy went to him and said "American?? Surfin' USA!" Sounds like something out of a comedy movie.

"best" can also mean "to defeat", but its not used like that much anymore.

i did find it weird that everyone calls me kinsman or brother as a nord.. its like, im not your brother and dont even like you. i figured imperials would get a lot of harassment though.

My fav as an Imperial - Do a quest for a Nord....they thank you....you come back and see them later and get "I hate Imperials!" or something to that extent. The old lady in the alchemy shop in Riften is one example of this.

I can see where that comes from now because "best" is a Synonyms of defeat, but it just sounds so wrong.

Wow! I wish something like that would happen to my elves! The only elven race that I have played that gets any flack outside of combat (where you hear stuff like, "Your kind has no place here!") was my Dunmer and even then he was never asked to leave any place. My Altmer and Bosmer have been treated with respect outside of the occasional "Don't cross me elf!" from Stormcloak guards. When I first started playing I expected my Altmer to get the most racism with the Thalmor and the recent Great War and all, but he seems to get treated the best of all. It's weird that so much of the elven racism from the Nords is focused on the Dunmer and not the Altmer (the non-Thalmor ones).

And yes, I do miss people greeting you with race-specific dialogue like they did in Oblivion...especially the greetings you got from your own kind.

I don't really need the NPCs speaking certain phrases however I would like actual limitation depending on race. I know it might be difficult but things like only allowing specific areas without having to bribe or fight guards. Some races shouldn't even be allowed into certain cities and more race specific areas would be great other than the orc "villages".

Just more limitations due to race choice instead of the racial perks which IMO are kinda weak anyway.

Though, I often get comments for my Sami inheritage from my fellow Norwegians.
And this one Swede get way much more attention than he should (maybe it's because he's facistic, and that's usually a no-no here)

"Best" is neither poor English nor archaic.
