Yeah, this is common knowledge now. You're talking about Benny, right? Matthew Perry's character.

Even though it's not really a spoiler since you see the shooting at the beginning, I'd still rather have it kept a secret. Oh well.

Spoiler

"A Vegas swinger-type in a zoot suit".

Yep, that nails it right down to the faction, location and even the motivations for doing it!"

Wait.. it doesn't say any of those things.. A cheap pimp on the vegas strip could have hired the suit for bring the player down because he didn't like the way we smelled.

Mmmmmm I don't think the plot is revealed.

Good for you !
Even though this is common knowledge...the fact that you are wanting to post things without a spoiler tag lets me down :banghead:

Now is the time to remind everyone of this -

Welcome to our forum. Please read the rules posted http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=724862, as our crack team of bulldog moderators enforce them rather strictly.

We want our General Fallout: New Vegas section to be a place where folks can discuss the game without being spoiled. Therefore, until the release of New Vegas, if you even think a post of yours could spoil something for someone else, please enclose the text in spoiler tags and make a *spoilers* note in the sub-topic line.

To add a spoiler tag, add the word "spoiler" in brackets before the spoiler text, with a bracketed "/spoiler" at the end. For an example of spoiler code, hit the "BB Code Help" button on the bottom right corner of the post form and scroll to the bottom of the list.

Consistently posting spoilers without hiding the text in spoiler tags can be cause for a warning and/or suspension of your account.

Posts containing unmarked spoilers may also be edited or deleted without notice.

Furthermore, excessive spam by a user can be cause for an instant ban. And those hurt.

Now that the nasty stuff is out of the way, we hope you enjoy your stay on our forum.

We will be applying the bit in red.

... with all the hype, "leaked' info, interviews, demos, screenshots, gameplay videos, and knowing what ~80% of the game looks like ( FO3 assets), there really isn;t much to spoil anymore, other than the ending.

You mean except for the different versions of the main quest? The side quests? Locations we haven't seen? Characters we don't know about? Who House really is? Everything else that can be spoiled? All the meshes and textures that haven't been shown? Weapons? Armor? Clothing? I make my point.

That's true, it's more information than just "Someone shoots you", but it's far from telling us everything, we still don't really know who shoots the player, I mean, we know his name and have a vague idea of his appearance, but we don't know things like who he works for, what kind of person he really is, and such, nor do we know why he wanted to kill the courier, and these details interest me much more than what the shooter was wearing at the time.

Well, we do know how the guy looked who shot us after watching the intro. That much the Courier will remember. But there's still the big why, the deeper who, that stuff. No problem with that.

Yes, but

Spoiler
Was he doing it on behalf of the Gecko family? Or was he doing it for someone else? House? Caesar? The NCR? It could be anyone.

No, not really.

FNV uses what? 75%-80% of FO3 assets, if not more? There are going to be a few new meshes, and a lot of those are based on the old ones anyway. For example, the "new" NCR uniform, it is the FO3 grunt merc armor with an overcoat. Or the mutants, who do have mod-like tweaks, but not exactly new meshes.

We may not have "seen" all the new locations, but it is not like they are going to be that different from one another, a few more meshes here and a few more textures there. We already know what The Strip looks like, what the inside of the casinos look like, what the Dam looks like, what some of the settlements look like, etc. from the countless demos and review clips, and you can see a lot of FO3 assets in it.

Most of the weapons, if not all, have already been revealed and pictures posted.
All the new creatures have been revealed.
We know who voices the main characters.
We know the main characters.
We know some (if not most/all ) of the secondary characters.
We know exactly how the game starts.
We know what the main quest is.

The side quests? They are all the same: retrieve this, find that, kill him, help her.. and they'll all take you to locations that you already know how they look like, minus whatever new meshes-textures.

.. so, "everything else that can be spoiled" isn't much.

You're just making assumptions. How do we know what the main quest is? We know what the basic premise is but we don't know what we do in the quests, we don't know the full story, and we certainly don't know all of the main characters. Again, how do we know all of the secondary characters? Fallout 3 gave out much more information before it's released and we didn't know all of it.

Only if you consider general information to be a spoiler. It can be, in some cases, but it's not a huge spoiler without details. OK so you get a quest to collect some items for someone. Who? What items? How many? We don't know any of that yet, for most things. We don't even know who the vast majority of the named NPCs are, yet, much less any side quests associated with them.

It comes down to this - the game is not yet out, but as we get nearer to release date there will probably be more information released. There will be people coming to this forum to find out the generalities about the game and there will be a lot of members who want to get the game and enjoy all the surprises without having read about them here in this forum.

Shortly before the game is released there will be a Cheats Hints and Spoilers forum set up, but in the meantime it is not asking much for everyone to be considerate of those who don't want details of game play and locations, and enclose anything that can be considered a spoiler in the spoiler tags.

I do not know what the dam looks like, what the inside of the casino's look like or what any of the settlements look like.

I don't know any of it. Why? Probably because I don't go looking for the information. All that stuff is what makes a new game fun, and if I already know it then there isn't much point to buying the game. I didn't even realize who the "courier" was until just now, by putting two and two together from several other threads along with this one. For the love of god, spoiler tag stuff.

The side quests? They are all the same: retrieve this, find that, kill him, help her.. and they'll all take you to locations that you already know how they look like, minus whatever new meshes-textures.

Not a very optimistic type of person are you? If you already know all this about the game, and the side quests bore you, then whats the point of playing? Oh yeah, the ending right? Which since nothing else is a surprise you're going to expect more from the ending, and when the surprise doesn't make up for all the times you weren't surprised in the game, you're going to play it then come on here and whine that it wasn't good enough because you spoiled the rest of the game for yourself and subconsciously raised your expectations for anything left that wasn't spoiled.

.. so, "everything else that can be spoiled" isn't much.

Maybe for you, but thats your own fault.

Hey, you are free to believe whatever you want or feel however you want. One just needs to read this forum or check the wiki and had played FO3 to know.

Yeah dude, this is old news most everybody KNOWS WHO SHOT COURIOR by now.

We know what the main quest is.

You know what the main quest is? They have told us nothing about the MQ. All we know is that we are sent out to find our killer. We have no clue how this leads us into the main factions. We don't no anything about the what the factions will makes us do, or what they really want.

At this point it's as much of a spoiler as
Spoiler
'The Lone Wanderer wasn't born in a Vault.'
Sure it's nice to have it be secret, but since you find out within the first hour of the game it doesn't really matter.
