Labyrinthian Disappointing

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 7:08 am

Dont know what I was expecting but this dungeon really disappointed me.

I guess with a name like that I actually expected a labyrinth. Go figure!

Good for you. Many found the game as a whole disappointing, not just a single dungeon.

I like the game as a whole. I just expected more from this dungeon with an epic sounding name.

I thought it was OK, decent length and difficulty. Not that innovative, though, I'd have to agree there. Unfortunately, that seems to be the story with Skyrim as a whole; good game but I was expecting more. Maybe we're just not being realistic in our expectations. :)

There is a maze in the Labyrinthian. And there are sections that are closed off just for particular quests. There's a book in game, I can't recall the name, it has the word "maze" in it, that holds the secret to the maze.

That dungeon is huge, don't just write it off if you've only scratched the surface.

Or we just wanted more of what we had, it is an Elder Scrolls game after all.

For a TES game its probably the best I've played. Some aspects of it need work. Thank god for mods since Bethesda is sure not to fix or balance that much at all

There actually is a labyrinth, but it's a bit linear

I liked It, It's my favorite dungeon in the whole game, and I had high expectations for It (It was a pain in Arena). The first room was awesome (won't spoil It but a really special enemy appears), and there are two additional hidden dungeons there (Shalidor's maze and another one, I can't recall It's name).

I didn't know that, I'll reconsider my opinion. Thanks for the info.

Its a shame Bethesda relies on the fans to fix their game for them even on things that make sense to be in the game.

Yep, a terrible shame they spent five years on the game when they should have spent 7. Heck, if they never released it, they would make the most amazing game EVER!

3 years not 5, if it had been 5 we would have had a better game, but instead they was working on Fallout 3 back in 2006 and in 2007.

It could have done with 6 more months to 1 year.

There were 3 sections if I remember correctly. One is the maze. I found it to be a let down. I was expecting so much more as I was moving through it. It wasn't much of a maze at all. Too linear. Also, you can get up on the walls and bypass it.

There is the typical dungeon that you can gain entrance to as part of a quest. Pretty typical, same enemies, same traps, nothing special.

Then there is the little hut.

Spoiler
This too was a let down. Getting all the dragon priest masks (assuming you actually looted them off the bodies and did sell them and cause them to disappear), just to get them to that room to put on the wooden one and travel back in time. I was expecting the room to unseal and have a decent dungeon to make it through with a good treasure to be had. Instead, the center dragon face lifts up to reveal a different mask that in my opinion isn't even as strong as half the others.

I don't think that Labyrinthian is disapointing.

The Labyrinthian starts off good when the skeleton dragon pulls itself up, but there aren't any real wow moments after that. Its not necessarily a bad dungeon, there just isn't anything particularly mind-blowing about it; its got nothing on the best Nehrim dungeons, at least.

Most people don't have problems with the game, but others like yourself clearily have issues, as soon as there is a thread that sounds like it may be negative you pounce like a Khajit!!
