Labyrinthian!?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 8:43 am

Was just reading a Labyrinthian thread... and what they describe as Labyrinthian wasn't the Labyrinthian I went through...

Apparently there were supposed to be 4 staffs I was to pick up to use throughout Labyrinthian on specific trap doors or whatever you want to call them... I only had 2 trap doors and I was able to get rid of the ice one with a fire spell and the fire one with an ice spell... no restoration trap... and I had no staffs anywhere... trust me I would have picked them up if I saw them I'm a major hoarder...

Same here. No sigils I had to fire spells at or anything. And they describe it as a maze, mine was a large ruined city filled with frost trolls and ghosts.

I rode over the mountain and came at the ruin from the back. Fought some frost trolls.
Had no idea it was more to Labyrinthian, it's a shame.

There are three dungeons in the Labyrinthian area. Labyrinthian itself (the Arena dungeon) is only accessible in a mage's quest.

I went in the actual maze or whatever... the section where you need that thing in order to knock on the door...

EDIT: The part for the mage's guild

Yep. Shalidor's Maze is the maze with the staffs. Lost Valkygg is a standard Draugr infested Tomb. All three dungeons have their entrance in the Labyrinthian exterior area. And the bunker in the center has some use for those dragon priest masks.

A nice dungeon, a word of power, most likely the first Dremora you fight and the Diadem of the Savant (decreased spellcasting cost for all schools).

Do you remember which word of power? Trying to get trophy for 20 shouts... I still need Kyne's Peace, Elemental Fury and Animal Allegiance

Diadem of the Savant (decreased spellcasting cost for all schools).

For what it's worth you can also find one of these at Froki's Shack. It's on the tree stump outside the house. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Froki%27s_Shack

The maze has two sides to it like a coin. The front is where the 4 staffs pop out of the ground with a path in to the maze ahead. If you go to the right and follow the corridor it leads to the far side of the maze and the "backside" of the maze. Both feature two wall mounted sigils of magic, one at the entrance and the other at the end of the maze. So thats 4 sigils in total, for the four staffs you get at the start. If you have magic from those 4 schools you can target cast you dont need the staffs.

Is Shalidor's Maze supposed to have anything special for all that work. I got the Diadem of the Savant from there and it's really weak compared to what I was already using for spell cost reduction. Seemed like a lot of fuss over such a weak artifact.

What makes the Diadem special is that it reduces the cost of all schools, not just one or two.

When I got the item it was for 5% in all schools. Is it always that or is it leveled loot?
It' is just that I have a dragon priest mask that gave me 20% reduction each in 3 schools of magic. I got a letter from a friend right after killing the first dragon, and it told me to go to a dungeon which is where I found that mask. And it uses the same armour slot, so I didn't need that diadem.
