I despised the impassable piles of rubble which forced me to crawl through countless generic subways.
They can't please everyone, unfortunately.
I thoroughly enjoyed that aspect of FALLOUT3, even the moments when I found myself turned around / lost my bearings. Those walls seemed to bear down on me oppressively. The subways were a little generic, granted. Thing is, I take the subway every day to work and it is pretty generic down there - though the stations are absolutely unique. Don't know about station design in DC, though; I live in Montreal were no two stops look the same.
Like I said, one man's treasure and all that . . .
