lag only in vaults!?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 5:17 am

As the subject reads, I get lag, or perhaps slight pauses is a better term, whenever my character is in a vault - not all vaults do this, but it only seems to happen in vaults. The rest of the game runs fine, even when modded characters fill the screen. Is there a specific texture or effect in the vault that is taxing my system? Speaking of which:
win basic 32
core 2 e8400 @ 3ghz
4 g ram
geforce gtx 260
really could use some help with this annoying (but not game ending problem)

I know what you're talking about, it's more of a stuttering.

I've had it once in Vault 34, the framerate was smooth as silk like usual but it would stop for a moment every once in a while.

I can only assume it's some sort of bug, not your hardware's fault.

I have the same problem. Outside, and in casinos and other buildings, the game runs perfectly fine. Inside vaults, occasional caves, and the sewers, it begins to stutter - sometimes very badly. I'm inside Vault 34 right now and it is halting every three seconds, making it virtually unplayable.

Computer shouldn't be a problem - Core2 Quad 6600 with 4GB RAM and a GeForce 9600GT on Win7 64-bit - and like I said, it's only in specific places that I have trouble.

Vault 11 just kills my computer. I can't tell you how many times I have to save and how many times it freezes while I'm trying to get through that Vault. I'm still trying to find advice on adjustments I can make to my settings that might help me. If anyone knows a good link with that info....please share.
