Last Battle

First time I played the last quest I wasn't very well prepared, but I just recently stormed the Dam and Legate Camp with the best weapons, armor and corresponding skills.
I had the C757 Avenger, This Machine, Ranger Sequoia, All-American, Knock-Knock and Anti-Materiel Rifle all loaded up with standard, AP, HP and custom hand loads.
I also had Remnant Power armor Authority shades and Ranger gray hat as well as hordes of stims.
I used the Avenger and All-American mainly to storm to Dam which was pretty epic but the best part was Legate's camp.
I "sneak critical-ed" the first two Preatorians with Hand loaded Anti-Materiel rounds then cleared the rest out with This Machine.
I was friendly with the Legion right after completing "Arizona Killer" then I killed everyone at The Fort.
I killed Caesar and House prior to this.
So as a result the Legate was friendly during the first conversation and he told me to kill Olivier.
The screen goes black for a second then I talk to the Legate again and then his battle dialogue is initiated, I proceed to tell him that I will enjoy wearing his mask as a trophy.
I kill the three Preatorians using Ranger Sequoia hand loads, then focus my attention on Lanius.
First gun I pull out is the Avenger.
I used most of the ammo for it so I only have about two clips worth.
I unload these into Lanius and he still had a little over half his health left, so I shot him in the face with an incendiary Anti-Materiel round.
He goes running off only to come running back a second later with 3 more Preatorians that had a Chainsaw, Super sledge and Thermic lance!
On Lanius's mad dash he proceeded to throw mass amount of grenades at me which I promptly either VATS out of his hand or out of the air.
At the end of his mad dash he was back on the Hill where his war tent is so I chase him up that way with the three (injured and on fire from exploding grenades) Preatorians on the ground.
So Lanius's health is a little less than a 3rd at this point.
I Maul him with Knock-Knock and send him flying off the hill onto the ground where the Preatorians are.
By the time I jump down Lanius is back up, by my focus is on massacre-ing the remaining Preatorians.
I mauled off two of their heads and sent the other one flying while Raul and ED-E picked him out of the sky!
All my focus was now on a badly hurt Lanius.
I mauled him to the ground one last time and just as he was in the animation to get up I got a perfect overhead swing in and chopped his head clean off.
It looked so cinematic and epic!
Lastly I mauled off Oliver's head and just before Yes Man came up to me to tell me what a good job I did all the drugs I was on (every one) stopped working and the "concussion" effect faded out just as the conversation was initialized.
It just added that last bit of awesome-ness like my PC had just come out of an insane killing trance.

Thought I would just share my experience with everyone!

LOL
A tad longer than I had intended but the details are where it counts! :P
Anyone else have an epic combat sequence where you just felt satisfied after wards?
The only ones I can account for are either mauling someone or headshot-ing them with a Ranger Sequoia while they are standing with thier back to an object of half their height eg: A car or a counter.
On a good one they will go sliding across said object sending blood, brain matter and random object flying in all directions!
That also leaves me with a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart :fallout:

Glad your encounter with Lanius was epic... mine was kinda... funny?
The whole fight up to him was epic though

Me, and Boone where doing our thing playing who can snipe the bad guy first when Rex had enough of it, and charged into the camp.
I had given Boone the named machete (liberator or some such) so oddly enough he like hand to hand more then ranged so when Rex charged off he quickly followed.
Kinda left me shooting from the hip.

After killing the camp I had forgotten about Lanius untill there he was standing in the middle of his camp locked in an eternal... staring contest with Boone.
I hid, and sniped him in the back of the head for a crit that took out 4 bubbles of health he goes red I go CRAP!
Then he turns looks deeply into Boone's eyes, and goes friendly again o.O .

After 6 so snipe, turn red, look back at Boone, and go friendly again he finally dies.

While my fight with Lanius was not an epic ending... I could not wish for it end any better :) .

Sh&*t, I never even knew about a character named Lanius until the end. Was wondering who the hell this masked guy was. So, I proceeded to Super Sledge him with a ravage and then beat him while he was down. Easy.

After fighting through the Legion on the dam with a Boomer air strike and an Enclave Verti-Assault team as support, I advanced to the Legate's camp. I sniped the praetorians with my Anti Materiel Rifle, and advanced through the camp with Boone and Johnson. I shot Lanius with AP rounds in the AMR and removed about 90% of his health. I targeted his head in VATS and killed him. I took his helmet and sword as trophies. I left the camp and General Oliver congraduated me. I watched the ending movie and the credits.
