Last time I buy a game on release...

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:48 pm

LAG and slow textures...grainy textures...bad anti aliasing...the online play is a big rubber band. Thank the Lord you have co op.
Also having trouble with some weapons...pull the trigger and after about 1/2 second it fires (lag),,,then sometimes just stops...then fires again. Many times as soon as the weapon hits or crosses a target, it just stops shooting..if I fire into blank air ( at a wall or ceiling....) it usually works fine.

I swore I'd wait on brink...but like most of us I can't wait to see if a new game is as interesting as all those hyped cut scenes and trailers seem...and lately thats all they are--hyped BS trailers that represent NOTHING like the games really are.
While I like the gameplay in brink more than I did the first day--it has great moments--the lag and textures is simply inexcusable. Last time I buy a game release day. The whole gaming industry has become so money hungry and greedy that they will release anything---then promise 'patches'...who ever heard of patches 5 or 10 years ago when they actually released finished games that WORKED. This is a disgrace SD and Bethesda. After this and New Vegas, I'm definitely not looking forward to any Bethesda games....I hope RAGE doesn't suffer the same fate.

Just my opinion..after dropping another $60 on a game that isn't finished.

Right there with you. My buddy and I are so confused though as to why his looks great and mine doesn't. Maybe a disc problem?

Yeah read some of my OP but he first bought the game at midnight release, went to this guy's house and played it and it looked awful. Said he felt so bad because he got them all to buy it. Then he went home, and it looked great, says it looks like the trailers and everything he's seen online pre-release. When I described all my issues he said it was exactly like he saw it when he was at the guy's house. My friend has a Panasonic that's from like 2005-06. It's a good tv but, under no circumstances should mine look worse it's a Samsung LCD from like 2 years ago. We think it's game flaws but also could be disc related. Installing to my xbox hdd did miminal improvements. Texture loading happens quicker but I've never seen a game look like this before. This is like Counterstrike graphics at times.

Its getting old ... fast....
so much hype about making your character stand out ... not being just another random toon to just have it blurred out.... All my targets look the same a lot of pixels cubes inside a red silouette...
Brink looks like Turrok 64

I'm sitting here looking like an idiot laughing at the Turok 64 comparison. That's hilarious.

Maybe we just need to upgrade our 360's. I remember one of the Turoks was the first 64 game I got where it used that extended memory thing on the Nintendo.

Maybe I'll open my 360 tonight, pry out the memory with a butter knife like I did for my 64 and replace it with something bigger.

Problem solved I think. I'll let you guys know how it works.

Anything rigged with either duct tape or krazy glue is almost guaranteed to work. However...Brink (must have) has code in it that automatically makes the game look like Nintendo 64, so that negates the duct tape immediately :-)

Don't know why I added a smiley..trying to get a little laugh out of all this I guess but this sh*t ain't funny. I'm really disappointed.

I believe I saw one of those posts...the mods locked it down. I wonder why an older TV might look better..maybe because it's in SD, and the HD TV's just show how poorly done the graphics are. The cut scenes/Vids look gorgeous, especially that movie in the intro that shows the game play on the Arc...THAT is what I EXPECTED!!. but the game play looks almost cartoonish in comparison.

So having an SD TV, the 'gorgeous' CGI HD videos don't look overly amazing, and the game play looks similar, perhaps. In HD...the CGI stuff is beautiful but game graphics - which are nowhere near the CGI - really show their poor performance.

Either way, after reading the Blog/update from Paul Wedgiewoody (Whatever his name is -- the guy whose face I saw on dev videos bragging about how amazing and groundbreaking Brink was going to be..yeah, that guy!), it seems like they are completely ignoring the fact that 90% of the people who bought Brink are dissatisfied (angry and expecting something to be fixed immediately ); and there's no pressure on fixing lag--because in their perfect Brink World..there is none.

I see little support and poor update possibilities from bethesda and SD. I recall the New Vegas fiasco ( they ruined that game, another shame) and this is definitely my last pre order. Gee! I get a stupid outdated ugly orange ( Orange????!) DOOM shirt and doo rag, in exchange for pre ordering a game that's nowhere near finished, looks and plays NOTHING like promised or expected, and has slim chances of lasting a month on anyone's playlist. LA NOIRE and RED RIVER will both be the end of Brink. Brink and poor support will be the death of Brink. And its a shame because its the first MP game in a long time I actually enjoy and do decent at!!!

What a shame they just released an incomplete product. This is now the norm so either stand up and stop buying games on release or get used to living with patch after patch, months before a game is actually playable, and broken games on release.

I'm sorry, by older tv I should have said it is an older model hdtv. I have just tried my xbox on my smaller 25" 720p Vizio. No improvements, other then it being on a smaller screen and seeming to have a better resolution. But that aside, comparing the technical issues...there was no change. Still looked awful. Starting to think that anybody saying this game looks great on their xbox is crazy. I know good graphics, I know decent graphics, and I know BAD graphics. These. Are. Bad. Being told on Splash Damage forums that it is the fact that xbox uses the ati and that's causing problems. Don't know how legit the sources are but, multiple replies suggest that now.

Well like I stated the same on another thread. Stores keep pushing and pushing the pre-orders like they will run out of copies, yeah right. Well this is the 3rd game purchase in a row where I feel robbed. First was Homefront. My God those amazing videosthis game will blow console users away, But is was the complete opposite, lame lame graphics and a ton of problems at release. but at least they promised dedicated servers for console and I was able to play it online, with problems sometimes but I was able to use it. Then it was Crysis 2, well this game for a console have outstanding graphics, but damn the online play was bad. I felt the same way when I played Gears 2 and Black Ops.The host is the GOD and the game did an horrific job selecting the host. The game is better now over 2 months after release. This game had a private Alfa on Nov 2010, and I was part of it, then 2 public betas and they promised dedicated servers, yeap after the fact they only meant for pc. So I didn't expect this game to have that many problems after 3 pre-release tests.

Then it was Brink, and I mentioned before, on a tweet for the lead developer they mentioned that the game will have decicated servers,. It was part of the Gaming Channel daily tweets. So I went ahed and pick up the game. After all the hype, those beautifull videos, this game will be the savior for those sick and tired of COD and his clones. I was so wrong, the grapchis are as bad as Homefront in gameplay, yeah right the videos are amazing but I don't play the videos. I god rid of Homefront but I kept this one because I needed new blood.

So people keep saying the same thing, every company wants to emmulate CODor whatever. I enjoyed all of them but Black Ops which was a sorry excuse for a game rushed to meet the Nov deadline. MW2 was ruined by hackers. But people at least we had a great product, several problems at lauch but the game was playable. Also the fact that they had no dedicated servers was one of the reasons that hackers ruined the game. yes I'm one of those sick and tired of COD but everytime I give an oppotunity to a new "game" of developer I keep getting the same bad results.

Games right now are like movies, everytime you see a movie with a ton of advertising you can bet that it will be bad, and they want as many people watching the movie at release because when everybody start to talk many people won't be going to the theaters. Skyline is a great example of this.

So I'm sticking with games that I know wont let me down, FEAR 3 is just around tghe corner and developing companies should take this game as an example of how good a game can look on a console, meaning FEAR 2 a game almost 2 years old and it has amazing graphics and this coming from a PC gamer(I got tired of trying to keep with the PC gaming pace, moneywise).

I can tell you right now, I will NEVER... NEVER... NEVER buy a game on release day *OR* PRE-ORDER. My bet is that Skyrim will be one big bag of doo-doo like the last few offerings from Bethesda. You know, I enjoyed Oblivion, but here lately with the notion of release it now and fix it later - they can keep their crappy software - I'll look elsewhere there's plenty of decent games to keep my interest. There's absolutely no excuse for what I received when I forked over $60 for this big POS called Brink. Sorry Bethesda, you lost a customer for life... see you in the bargin bin.

I can tell you one thing. My skies don't look like the skies in those videos. I have pixel clouds not real clouds. Played this level too.
