I've had this happen twice on me recently, I'll open the launcher and the game loads but the launcher music still plays in the background. If I alt-tab there is an error message from the launcher saying something like "fallout new vegas does not appear to be installed properly". Every so often the launcher will crash when I run it (falloutnvlauncher has stopped running or something like that) and sometimes it will consistently crash over and over unless I wait a while. Sometimes when I quit the game I notice the launcher never closed and task manager says it is 'not responding'. This happens from launching within steam or a steam shortcut or even running the exe directly. Some people seem to have a 'looping' launcher issue too. Would be nice to officially not have to run through the launcher..
