Left handed setting?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 6:19 am

Hey everyone, quick but random question: I was on a forum today and heard someone mention a setting that lets you switch your character's "main hand" so that you can play as a leftie. You know, sword in left hand shield or torch in right hand? Does this setting exist, or was it a cruel sick lie? I'm a leftie irl and it bugs me that you can't poison your left hand weapon, or that shields and torches have to be in your left hand.

that is an excellent question. I am not left handed in RL but it would be cool for a change of pace or rp reasons or something. Please if anybody knows this, let us know!!!

There is no settings, it is probably just some mod. I wish they would add in that setting though.

You can equip your sword/axe/ mace... in your left hand and have a spell/ nothing in your right hand. However it is impossible to equip a shield or a torch in your right hand.
Hope that helps

You can switch the mouse buttons from the settings. The problem is that it also switches the left mouse button to the right for everything else, including the UI as well.

From my experience with dual wield, standard mouse settings use the left button for the right hand and the right button for the left hand. It's really confusing, especially when you have different spells in each hand.

Well I know I can equip a weapon in my left hand, but I still can't poison m left hand weapon or use a bow leftie-style. It's sort of dissapointing since I figured dual wielding would free me up to do that. Oh well...

All the weapon animations would have to change for that to work, so really not too surprising they didn't implement it.

Lefties have a lower life expectancy, look it up.

That is irrelivant to the thread, read the OP.

Now, I think they should have had all the left hand animations. It isn't all about being as efficent as possible. You need to cater to minorities also. I know they can't just mirror animations, but they wouldn't be starting from scratch either.

Skyrim configuration for controls on the Keyboard is dismal. It is horrible. It is actually disgusting, since it is such a touted game. This game is not at all like Oblivion or Morrowind. It is stupid, and it doesn't let you configure it correctly on the keyboard (as a southpaw) AND they don't care.

I've sent them several letters and emails, and they have not had the curtosy to return one single comment on it. I have always been cordial, and patient. They could care less, and since most people are right-handed, they probably could care less too.

I will not get another Bethesda game because of this. I prepaid for this game and got it on 11-11-11. I had to work half the night to try and figure out how to install a third party application called Autokey to fix their stupid configuration problems.

Skyrim because of this fact alone, because of the lack of concern, because they couldn't even give me an answer to written letters and several emails has really lost my respect.

Oh! i'm sorry, I don't read posts. I just click around and say whatever I feel like. But you're right, the whole world should cater to the minority; or the minority can find a way to work it out.

Flip the controller around, turn on invert, and play into a mirror.

I apologize for bunching up your undergarments. I just thought your original post was out of place. Anyways I know the majority should get more attention (I am captian ovious), but the minority should not be ignored.
