Ok so I was in the cave (Dead Wind Cavern or something) where all the deathclaws are, and i saw the legendary deathclaw. I want to know does it drop anything or do you get anything special for killing it? I used a stealth boy to sneak past it and got Mercy, the grenade machine gun, but I can't seem to kill it without it first killing me. I'm playing on hardcoe mode, hard difficulty, and my maxed out stats are melee weapons and unarmed so i do almost no damage with guns. Is it worth trying to kill it and using alot of my stimpaks and food, or should i just leave since i have the grenade machine gun

I have never tried to kill a DC with anything but guns. Come to think of it i do not have a single melee based character at all, and i have no intention of ever making one, but to each his own. I could not imagine trying to kill a DC with anything other than .308 or .50 from a limited approach able vantage point. I have killed DCs with 5.56 and that is more work than i was interested in doing i could not imagine melee or unarmed. Good luck guy all the best to ya.

Melee is actually surprisingly effective on Deathclaws, given your stats are high enough. Especially if you're using a Super Sledge, the "Mauler" special attack usually sends them flying and almost always knocks them down, then you just keep hitting them while they're on the ground and usually enough of those hits will get "knock-downs" so they don't get back up at all. I find it to be way too cheap.

But to answer the question, the Legendary Deathclaw doesn't drop anything to my knowledge, (I was just in DWC yesterday and killed it) all that you get out of it is Mercy. So if you can sneak in and grab it without fighting the LDC, i'd take that route.

Just get a missile launcher(Annabella-from black mountain) and fire a couple shoots at him. Thats what I did and it only took a couple of shots. I am pretty sure there are holy grenades in there but I could not find them....maybe have to have the wild wasteland perk.

Really...I have beaten that quest multiple times and never seen them? I have seen Knock Knock, but not Holy Hand Grenades....And speaking of Searchlight how many dog-tags do you have to find to give to that NCR guy? The Deathclaw does not drop anything...but the mother deathclaw drops like 4 eggs which sell for 400 each....So really the cave is pretty useless.

Edit: Actually just googled it. Ya there at Searchlight only if you have the Wild Wasteland perk on.

I managed to use stealth boys to sneak out with Mercy, so I didn't bother killing it. And yeah, my chainsaw works surprisingly well against Deathclaws, especially with the Sneak critical hit

I killed him and Got nothing But the Brotherhood T-45d power armor was enough for me!!!!!!!!!!
