Leisure Suit Larry [Kickstarter]

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 3:38 pm

So, we had Wasteland 2 Kickstarter which succeeded, anyone gonna help Leisure Suit Larry's Kickstarter to go through?

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/leisuresuitlarry/make-leisure-suit-larry-come-again

If I get money before the deadline I'm gonna donate money to make it come through.
Excited to see oldschool games getting a chance through Kickstarter to be made, sadly, LSL lacks 72.000 dollars to make it's goal.

It worries me to see so many people jumping on the kickstarter bandwagon now. Just because it worked for a few games doesn't mean it's going to work for everyone.

This, so many times.

Yep, it's the same frustration to me when people say 'I don't need to go to college, look at Bill Gates!', thinking they'll have the same lucky events he had happen. I wonder how many Kickstarters were a large success, meaning not some small 100,000 downloads indie game.

I remember the first LSL game I played. Had to answer a buncha questions in order to prove I (we) were old enough to play it.

Trying to get past those questions were a blast, wasnt easy, there was no google at the time. Then we started the game, never'got far, but I remember enjoying it as a child for a little bit.

Well, after the $200 I dropped on Wasteland 2 and the $25 a piece on Nuka Break and Banner Saga I think my wife will throw a fit. Banner Saga ends today sometime and I still haven't told her I dropped money on that, so when she gets the notification on her phone that the card has been charged I'm going to get an earful.

So, I've set LSL to remind me just before it ends so I can put something down on it. Right now, I can't.

I do remember trying to get laid playing this game as a kid though.

Nothing wrong with more kickstarters. It's up to us to invest. The only games I'm interested in are all KS, and age of decadence.

What's annoying are action games marketed as rpgs when they're not, and this hasn't happened on KS yet.

Oddly enough, I haven't checked out AoD much yet. I do love the way the game looks. I've been meaning to grab the beta; just haven't yet.

We probably won't see that. Ever. I find that a lot of the companies and people on KS are oldy tyme guys who are trying to bring back the days of, "Good ol' Gaming". Which I'm glad.

That would be neat to bring back the classic Leisure Suit Larry, but only the ones that Al Lowe did and who knows maybe make an actuall Leisure Suit Larry 8.

I'd also love to see old Sierra back and old school Lucas Arts games. Remember the original Sam & Max games from Lucas Arts? Man, that'd be frickin' epic.

Ooh, and Origin Systems man, a new Wing Commander game would be so sweet!! It's too bad that EA destroyed OSI and then tainted the name Origin with their DRM BS. God I hate EA.

I'd love to give money for this, but as it is a remake of a remake, I can't gather up enough interest (played the [censored] out of the original 5 games back in the day), not even with the prospect that it being succesful would open up doors for furhter (new) Larry titles in the vein of the original games. Glad to see it's doing fine so far and likely will be succesful, though.

I liked the original Sierra game back in the day. I'm not sure how well they could pull it off now...maybe if they could get Tim Schafer involved, but I hear he's busy.

Oh, I think they'd be well enough with just Al Lowe and the rest of the Sierra team. Tim has great sense of vision, but he's not the only one out there who made good point'n click (or type-command based) adventures back then. I just hoped, they would make a new game for the series, instead of.... yeah.

Anyways, I will buy their game once it's out. I've been aching for an old school Larry for a long time as I've not found the original Larry collection anywhere botherable.

Just looked at the KS page...didn't realize Al Lowe was actually onboard. I guess it might be ok so long as the humor doesn't get too "Americn Pie" like some of the later titles did.

I wonder why people are so dismissive. I mean, I am too, but I haven't said "God no!" without giving a reason. I think it'd be great to have Larry in HD to bust our sixual moral conceptions. :P

Those that are sayong 'god no!' are probably too young to remember classic point and click games like LSL and Sam & Max.
