After watching the presentation of the Unreal Engine 4 (wich use tons of lens flare) I remember what said my brother (who is a filmmaker in London).
He explain to me how the lens flare effect is considered a very bad error in the cinema movies. This is because the thing that makes the "lens flare" is the camera "lens" (is a piece of glass). If the people that are watching the movie understand that the scene is taken with a camera (because of the lens flare) they lost their "Suspension of disbelief". read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspension_of_disbelief
My brother for exemple say that they may be good for a musical video. But not for a movie (it is considered a very bad error).
I see that in Skyrim there is not this effect while looking at the sun, but there is a stunning hdr effect. I think this help us to preceive the opera as more realistic.
I hope Bethesda will continue in this way for the next gen. Bye!
p.s.
ot, I hope to see less violence from the fauna in the next Elder scoll for the same reason of "suspension of disbelief" (sorry I couldn't resist to ask) /ot. Bye!
