Leon

This is a discussion about a movie I just saw called Leon, also known as The Professional in the US. Seeing as it came out in 1994 I'm assuming many of you have seen it? Its a great movie if you haven't. Gary Oldman is one of the creepiest bad guys I've ever seen in a movie. He rivals the Joker from The Dark Knight for me. I also really really liked how the protagonist was not simply a one dimension bad ass who never says anything or doesn't care about anything; he has a plant and its his best friend, even going so far as to risk his life for it. Also, it was Natalie Portman's first movie.

Yeah, a great movie. Reno is excellent as usual, Portman made a very good first appearence. I loved how Leon was sort of an ignorant guy, not stupid, but not well educated and trying to push the girl away from his world so she can have what he didn't. Very humane story.

It's not one of my favorites, but I do think it's a great movie. Oldman really makes the film in my opinion, giving one of the best performances of his career. I'd give it an A-.

Proof that Jean Reno is a real badass, like a French Bruce Willis. :D

It was an awesome movie, but I don't agree with you about the antagonist, he was pretty one dimensional in my opinion, he was just a bad guy, like Cal was in Titanic. I prefer movies where antagonists aren't simply bad guys but normal people with motives, people that go too far for their motives.

The Professional is one of my favorite movies ever. The relationship between Leon and Mathilda is fantastic. I almost never feel the urge to cry when watching a movie, but my eyes filled up with tears toward the ending of that movie.
