I noticed this myself. I was like, WAT?? Why the heck did they change that? I haven't checked to see if that's the same with all companions, but I'd take a wild guess that it is. Why oh why? The fact they'd look at you once you got in range gave them some personality or something. Nonono, I don't like it. Change it back.

Is this something you can change back via the Geck? Probably script oriented, too complex for me. *sniffle*
It's definitely something with the new patch...he/all companions were doing the looking thing until I installed the patch tonight. The companions were just scripted to stare at anyone who's close enough (including other npc's), nothing to do with their quests/trust level.
Frankly, for my own personal playstyle, the only thing I'm loving about the patch (besides the quest fixes) is the handloading gun fix.
