Let's play video's

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 4:08 am

So generally Ioccasionally like to watch let's play video's... mostly to see how somebody took on a particular tough enemy or tackled a tough puzzle etc..
Is it just me.. or don't the majority of people making Skyrim Let's plays, have a single clue how to play this game.
Even the beloved Mangg seems to be lost by now.. he gets owned by mages and master vampires.. never carries potions... or use them.. Misses half of the loot.. Alas this is the same for the majority of the lets plays.
Yes there are decent ones.... but then... The commentator is a bore...

IMHO one of the few exceptions..: Culveyhouse (look for his channel on Youtube)... He plays the game on master.. wants to be a mage, is amusing, explains the mechanics, explains the world, edits out looting.. but points out tips.. comments on the engine.. My only gripe so far.. he chooses to follow the MQ till now but for a video walk-through it works.

We also offer a Minecraft Server (in production, as of 16/11/11), for those who enjoy role-playing. Allied with Lodainn, we hope we can unite the many Minecraft Server's into one collective of RP.

Shameful advertising aside; in relation to the OP - I, myself, have been in the process of recording a Let's Play series. So far, so good, I must say.

You can watch the entire series through the main http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL891FC9388E5620F3.

Personally, I like to show the game for what it's worth. Every little thing. I'll be describing the mechanics, showing how to lockpick - all the bits and pieces that make up Skyrim.

Which is exactly what Cuvey does... however ... most playthroughs are like.... "Oh I hate this guy.. let's kill 'em.... What the hell why are the guards attacking me...?"
Take Manggs last episode.. Rushes through (sort of) the dungeon... does loot a few of the bodies... Doesn't cary any health potions or resist potions.. comes up with the brilliant idea of rushing six target including a boss at once.. He simply never prepares for any challenge. Yes he claims that's his way of playing... but it now, imho, has become a collection of fails... ( his comments are still amusing though)

Shameless self promotion? You could check my let's play out link in my signature. Otherwise I would have to recommend http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL39BEE06DBD7CB763. He doesn't have very many episodes but I love his let's plays. :foodndrink:

You obviously have not seen Rydar's videos. They are by far the best I have seen and he is extremely funny, very entertaining.

First one of the series is here:

Although he is amusing his early ones put me off. (Dropping lockpicks.... Huh) But it gets better.. However I still like Let's plays of people who actually know what they're doing from the get go.
