Level 26 in less than 13 hours :O [PC]

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 10:46 am

Hey,

This isn't a hate or troll thread :P

Who else is finding that they are levelling up far to quickly? I'm level 26 in less than 13 hours and too strong for most enemies :(

I have not started any guild or main quests and have probably only done 25% of the map even though I have like 20 incomplete quests in my journal. I have been ranking up smithing to about 60 but I have only some Orc pieces so I don't think this is the main culprit of the high level and my Alchemy is 15 and Enchanting is about 40. I use sword and shield and play on Adept.

I have been using PISE, Deadly Dragons and Vals Crafting Meltdown amongst many texture mods which have made the game more enjoyable but I still am finding myself too strong!

Has anyone tried using a slower leveling mod like this? http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1992 . I think using the .esp to slowing down leveling by 50% would be ideal.

I think it is really strange that the game was designed in a way that make us soo high level so quickly before we've touched 80%+ of the games content. I don't even have uber armor and weapons and still pwning.

Because unlike Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, where you add only about 6 skill making yu leveling up, and you could expect being level 30-40 at endgame, Skyrim scale up to 50 with a max level of 81. Expect leveling to be much slower past 50.

But the enemies are too easy now at level 26. Will they not get easier as I level and get better equipment?

I got to level 25 in less than 5, and I didn't do any exploits either I just went around picking everyone's pockets and selling them. Good way to level and earn gold (that I don't need)

I agree that it is a bit too fast for my taste. And although it does slow down, the enemies start dying very fast in the late 20s to early 30s, depending on play style.

Turn up your difficulty a notch or two if you find the enemies are too easy... The tougher enemies keep showing up in the game as you progress in levels but you will still see the weaker enemies like basic wolves that you will basically be able to kill in 1 hit without even thinking... Leveling will also slow WAY down after you hit level 50... Max level of the enemies (not counting Alduin since he actually continues to level with you the entire game) is 53...

Didn't know there was such a large market for used pockets :D

Well, taking one point at the time:

You lack of uber weapons are a result of a design choice that makes your perks more important than the item itself, though better stuff is always better.

As for the leveling to fast, maybe. I feel it is justified that we level faster than before since the enemies are designed to go up to level 50 rather than 25-ish, and you will slow down quite a bi after you hit 30. The bad thing is that the strongest enemies rarely appear before you yourself are quite powerful(though those Master Volkihar Vampires can still kill you fairly easily even at higher levels. I got killed at level 48 by one in less than 20 seconds at expert. Damn thing got me by suprise). I think the best solution would be to make stronger enemies appear a few levels earlier.

i think it is normal to level 26 in < 13h. But try to play on expert/master and that will make a diff. a lot

With my last character I leveld only three skills consistently: Light Armor, 2-Hand and Smithing. It took me nearly 50 hours to reach level 26. It's all in how you play the game.

Finally I changed playstyle and enjoying the game again. Fact is I just realized what you are saying as I was on the game a few minutes ago. Even at a normal pace the leveling is way too fast and easy. Hell!?!?! I enchanted one lousy cheap item and gained half a level FFS!!! Come on BGS do we need things to be this easy??? They made Skyrim way too frikkin easy even without exploits.

It's because every skill in the skill tree gives leveling XP, not just a few major/minor skills like in previous games. So the more things you do, the more skills you raise, the faster you level. Also, some skills raise up much faster then others.

I don't remember what level I was after 13 hours playing, but I surely was around Whiterun somewhere, just starting, and keeping in mind that I'm currently level 39 and 350 hours, I bet I was very far below level 26.

That happens if you use too many skills. You should pick a skill tree for the char template you chose, and stick to it. With my current char I only have Archery, Light Armor, Lockpick, Sneaking and Speechcraft. All the rest are simply ignored and never used. I don't read any spell books neither craft.

At early levels I went up 4 levels just in one dungeon which I thought was much too fast. It happens quickly if you are doing many things like sneaking, using a sword, using armor, using a shield, picking locks, and some healing spells.

The levelling didn't really start to slow down until I was past level 20 when my key skills were higher and so levelling at a slower rate.

I don't level that quickly. Looked back through some of my saves. Level 24 took 30 hours, level 30 took 40 hours and my current level 40 took 68 hours. I'm just playing naturally and exploring quite a lot in addition to quests. I can't imagine hitting level 26 in 13 hours.

Since many enemies level with you, it shouldn't be getting too easy because you are leveling too fast. In fact if you pick the right build it gets harder as you level.

There's two points going on. First, you seem to feel like you are gaining levels too quickly. Fact is :
- getting a new level doesn't do much to make you stronger at your level, it does cause really stronger monsters to spawn though
- everyone starts basically the same at level 1, getting the first few levels quickly is required to have us differentiate quicker

Second point is, you find the monsters too easy. Well yeah, Skyrim might not be that well balanced but consider the fact there's some pretty weak builds going on that must have at least a chance at finishing the game in Normal mode. It's easier for Bethesda to make the game a little too easy so that most builds have some chance at finishing the game rather that require people to min-max some optimal (and very restrictive) builds to finish the game. There's Master difficulty if you want.

Any of the crafting skills, especially smithing, will level your character up fast.

I use a mod that cuts levelling speed in half, so I haven't had that problem.

Has nothing to do with kicking back and enjoying the world. Believe me I am a very slow player when it comes to sandbox games. But to get half a level off one crappy enchantment is a bit excessive on Bethesda's part.

I use a mod to slow it down. I found one that offers 10% increments all the way up to 100% - which is nice b/c I can shift if I think it too slow.

But I agree, it feels weird and wrong to be so high level with so much left to explore.

I do nothing to grind (no enchant, smithy, muffle abuse etc.) and I often find myself at level 15 within 3 hours just doing miscellaneous and a few quests in Whiterun.

I play a pure mage. My battlemage went up a bit (just a bit) slower (maybe level 12 in 3 hours) and again I didn't smith or use anything that levels other than my primaries.
