I agree, the character of the game seems to change around mid twenties level and I restart at that point. I've never gotten above level 27.

By the time I had reached level 30 I had finished all of the notable stuff in the game, so if you got bored by that time I wouldn't blame you.

But I personally haven't stopped. My character is now at level 53 and I don't plan to stop until I've discovered every single map location in the world and unlocked every shout in the game.

Yep, I've never made it past the high 20s in level. Never gotten a skill to 100, either.

It means I've missed out on some perks and content, but that's no big deal to me.

It's actually not a conscious decision to stop at that point; it's just that, by then my characters have usually completed their major goals - like finishing a particular questline or two - and I sort of run out of things to do with them. And by that point, I'm also usually ready to start a new build anyway.

Agreed! Tho it depends very much how much you level your skills which increase level. I had all mainquests completed around lvl 38- Where it became kinda boring.
DBH Questline was by far the most entertaining one!

I find in most games that I enjoy the beginning and building up part more than the end ... which is why I tend to restart a lot.

That's just me.

If I find a game boring, I'll just shelve it and either go back later or forget about it. Wouldn't bother wasting my time on web forums yapping about it.

But again, that's just me.

Hmm, I"m 28, haven't completed more then a handful of quests, not even all that far into the MQ either. I just do a lot of random exploration, which is kind of my thing(or I guess I should say my Characters thing. He's a Ranger who feels the need to rid the world of evildoers)

My previous character was level 52 and I'd only done the first "get the item for Farengar" part of the MQ and one Companion quest. Hadn't joined any other guilds or visited every city.

And I was having a good time until I screwed myself up ... at which point, I decided to restart.

Both my Thief/Assassin and my warrior were very powerful by the early 30's. However even at 56 my mage doesn't feel overpowered which is a nice change.

Oooh, I have to ask, what did you do to screw yourself up?

Oooh, I have to ask, what did you do to screw yourself up?

Nothing that would likely make sense to anyone but me.

It started with me grabbing a daedric artifact before checking everything in the chamber where it was located and then being unexpectedly whisked away. Door to the chamber was "needs key" locked when I tried to get back in.

I bit the bullet on that one but later found most of the stuff I'd stored in a chest in a home appropriated from a defunct follower had disappeared.

My third mistake was not having a save that wouldn't have dropped me back 10 levels, so I just decided to restart.

I'm very curious also. Please do tell. How can you mess anything up at 52?

My character with highest level is at level 37 (thief/assassin). Still playing because I just started Dark Brotherhood quest line for the first time.
But at the same time, I also started a new character build (mage) and having quite a bit of fun because this is also my first mage build character. Also heard that mage build is quite a balanced build, hopefully I could get past 50+.
So yes, I quite agree with the OP because my first ever character never went past level 33 .. (warrior build)

I think it's the most fun too because it's also the most balancest part of the game

For me its not the game, but the charater im playing. Like im not quite happy with how i spent my perks on it. So i start over.
Had one charater at lv 32. Hadnt finished any of the main quest lines yet.
And ithink that its preety cool that youll discover new things every playthrough

Was thinking about doing a Level 1 character, now that would be fun. I would say that Levels 1-40 is the stretch where it's fun, after 40 it gets too easy unless you gimp.

The way I play the game now is choose 6 skills and stop leveling up when I hit 30. It seems like a good round number to stop at where you obtain enough perks but not too many to become ridiculously overpowered.

depends on your playing style and difficulty lvl or when you limit yourself (rpg wise )
i have a character that just reached lvl 50 and i hardly touched the mainquest with her , and shr is still discovering all sort of dungons and caves so even after lvl 30 there is till much to do ,
Of course those on PC can expand or make the game so much more challenging thanks to a great modding community

Yes. I currently am playing four different characters for that very reason. I had five, but deleted my level 23 Imperial today. My first and primary character (Dark Elf) is currenly level 46, but the other three are all under level 30. Two of the games I've triggered dragons and the other two no dragons.

I've built and deleted several before level 10. Thinking about building a Breton tomorrow...or maybe I'll take another run at making a Khajit.
