Leveling Alchemy is a joke, 30 potions = 0 skill ups LOL?

Post » Sat Jun 23, 2012 5:14 pm

This is stupid, I'm trying to grind this skill and I've bought out all of the alchemist ingredients twice and I still haven't even leveled up at all rofl. How is this even possible. I have made over thirty potions and not a single skillup.

Collect 500 pounds of ingredients and eat all them. It will result in much fun. Or use them the boring way, and make moar potions.

What potion are you making? I think it levels very quickly. The more expensive the potion, the more you level.

Try to make valuable potions, it levels faster. Like giant's toe + wheat + creep cluster, or Paralysis poison. Look http://www.endoftheweb.se/skyrim/index.php if you want more cheats.

Last night I created mass potions for the first time. The first batch I made like 30.. ummm maybe fortify health? And I gained a level pretty quickly. Then I made 40 of some other kind of potion and I was gaining nothing as far as skill so it definitely depends on what you are making and how much it is worth.

activate the thief stone.

also it depends on how good the potions are and how expensive they are, cheap ingredients equal weak potions while expensive ones equal great potions that also increase the skill level.

Alchemy is a stealth skill now? I just checked to see if it was one in the other two non-DOS games in the main series, and it isn't in those. I have no idea how this skill would make sense as a stealth skill when it seems more like a magic skill.

It's been known what "class" each skill falls into in Skyrim since some time last year. They changed Alchemy to Stealth to make an even 6 for each archetype. I do think it makes since, though, given the prevalence of Alchemy in poison making, invisibility potions, boost potions, and the fact that it is a great money-making profession, which pairs it well with Speech(another skill in the Stealth section).

It makes sense since you can apply poison effects on stealthy weapons like daggers and bows.

Blue butterfly wings
blue mountain flower
giants toe
This will help you level up quite a bit. Alchemy leveling is tied to how expensive a potion is. It does level slowly though. But if your making really cheap potions you'll be there forever.

How is this even possible.
It's purely depending on the price of the potion you made. Some potions are worth enough to be good for a full level of skill improvement with just one bottle.

All you need to do is find recipes for the more expensive stuff ...

It does seem oriented towards rogue type characters in Skyrim. There are no alchemy trainers at the College, for instance, and the master trainer is un-reachable unless you join the DB.

And here I thought it was too easy when I went from level 21 to 100 in one potion.

Try this page. It helped me. You can make some very expensive potions which will level you faster.

Restoration glitch. Then sell the potion to max out the speech skill.

The "best" way to do it is to make potions with multiple ingredient. Also, experiment with stuff. Once you get two or more effects per ingredient it's SUPER easy to level up (and make some cash). Just combine (totally fake info follows) say, garlic + rose petals for fortify health... but rose petals also have fortify stamina... so check your fort stamina thing.. OH look dandelions. Select those and they might even match one of the other effects on garlic for an additional boost.

I personally love alchemy, but I've never bothered to memorize formulas for potions/what effects are on what item etc...

Still it's really fast to level once you are making multi effect potions. Do what I explained above, and see if that helps (it should... even with the bogus example).

Hope it helps.

It's the same with Alchemy, Smithing, Enchanting, Pickpocket and Speech. They all level with the value of the product.
