Leveling heavy armor

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 6:04 am

I'm about to make a new heavy armor character and I'd like to get the perk that removes the armor weight, but it requires a skill of 70 and the prerequisite perks are pretty useless.

However, leveling the armor skills is slow as hell, and it always seems to lag behind the other skills as I level. Apart from paying trainers and using the Warrior stone is there a way to cheese it or make it level faster?

Or should I just use the Steed stone so I can use the extra armor bonuses in the other side of the perk tree? This seems like a tough choice, seeing as I'd lose the awesome bonus from the Warrior guardian stone.

To level heavy armor find an enemy that is weak to mildly powerful compared to you and let him hit you without fighting back. Just heal yourself and let out go as long as your patience, magic and health portions last

That's what I did.

Join the companions until you can get farkas as a follower and he can train you for "free" up to level 90. Just train as much as you can afford then trade items and take your gold back. simple. If you consider this an "exploit" and don't like to use exploits, it isn't. consider it part of the shield-sibling motto or w/e

Wait, whaaa? I found my self LVL'ing both my own lvl and the heavy armor way to fast imo.

I had 1 hour playtime, and I were LVL9, heavy armor got up pretty high as well. I did as one said above here tho, "fighting" a bandit with a shield in my left hand, sword in the other, let him bash me, heal up/potions, and repeat. "I LOVE A REAL FIGHT" the bandit said, for about 15 minutes. Then I killed him with one sword-strike. :sadvaultboy:

Just get the "Steed" Standing stone...it will remove the weight of your armor AND give you +100 carrying capacity (it is south of solitude)

This is a must have for me until I get to Conditioning. I can't stand moving slowly.

Pretty sure six hits from an Ancient Dragon will take you from level 99 to level 100, if you can survive them. Good luck finding one at a low level though! :P Your best bet would be a hard hitting enemy - the more damage an enemy does in a single hit, the quicker the level raises.

Where does one begin to look for the "Steed Stone"?

Yeah, find something that hits hard with each swing. Unlike Oblivion, experience is based on damage taken, not a set amount of xp per time hit. Giants work well for leveling quickly if you have the HP.

You can do the same thing with the other companions also. Aela for archery, the dark elf dude for onehanded, vilkas for two handed, and njada for block

Are you going to perk Smithing and Heavy Armor? If so, put as few points into Heavy Armor as possible to get armor capped (1/5 Juggernaut at least, maybe Well-Fitted depending on which set you're wearing). Both armor trees are weak sauce.

Steed Stone is a must for heavy armor wearers. Otherwise you have to waste 2 points in Fists of Steel and Cushioned. You can always make up the lost MR from Lord's Stone with another Resist Magic enchant and/or Alteration perks.

I find the two perks before conditioning usefull as sometime I have to drop from a very high place to escape something and the draugr keep using the shout that knock my weapons out of my hands

You have to complete the Companions quest line before you get Farkas and the rest of them as followers. But use that and also use the Steed Stone. If you are going for a pure warrior your one handed or two handed will level up just fine on it's own without the warrior stone. Also if you are going to level up smithing and enchanting. You don't really need all the juggernaut perks. You can easily hit the armor cap in heavy armor with just 1/5 in juggernaut and the well fitted perk.

Also, you can get into a fist fight with someone, put the difficulty on novice then just let them punch you. Your health should regenerate quicker than they can deplete it so you can just go watch TV then come back in a few hours or so.
