Levitate. Is it time?

Would you like to see the levitate spell back in Skyrim?
Why? Why not? Lay out the pros, and lay out the cons.

I can't think of any pros.
As for the cons: getting stuck, no actual in-game utility for it. Since it wasn't included at first there's no real spot or dungeon when you'll need it.

Well, it wouldn't work that well because a lot of places are designed to keep you out by height. You could fly into LOD cities.

It would be interesting to script it though, I've thought about trying it.

It's already been done. There are open cities mods available for both Oblivion and Skyrim. (It's not done via scripting, by the way. It's mainly accomplished by copy/pasting meshes into the game world).

I complained about them not including Levitation since Oblivion came out, but I still have to answer your question with "no". The reason for that is that Skyrim wasn't designed with that skill in mind. Remember Morrowind, where there were places with hidden treasure that you could only reach through Levitation? Or all the Telvanni towers? You needed Levitation for those.

But you don't have such places in Skyrim, so levitating is no real benefit. In fact, it would screw up Bethesda's linear dungeon design and you could reach the main chamber without even going through the dungeon, unless they lock the doors from the other side or with those locks that can not be picked for some reason, even if you have the unbreakable Skeleton Key. Even if they included Levitation and created some places with hidden treasure, it probably wouldn't be worth it to get there, since you'd most likely only get the same basic crap items that you can get from any other chest. Hooray for randomized loot...
