Lights not rendering?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:49 pm

Ive only gotten a single light to render like it should, but since then, every light does not produce any light. I looked at its settings and the color preview is the same color gray as the window though the color values are set to a very distinct color like red or blue.

Ive found that if i open the color selevtor and click ok, the color show up, and when put into the render window, if i refresh (F5) then the lisht will show up on objects within range, but not the ground (Exterior).

Anyone else having this problem? Tossing in the interior render issue and havok not working, I am feeling really jipped.

The havok not working really does stink and now I know I'm not the only one, I am having a problem getting the lighting to work right in an interior cell....not sure why.
But on the plus side the GECK starts up and closes much faster than the FO3 one did.

I always ended the process to close the GECK, so that wasnt an issue. Also the F3 GECK never stopped responding when loading, which isnt a problem, as it still loading, but i just find it a bit annoying, ill deal XD, but the havok and lights not working isnt acceptable.

Havok works!! It is different as in the old GECK.

I made a short test and played with a plate and a broom. I positioned them in the air and enabled Havok. While moving the mouse with the left mousebutton pressed suddenly the plate felt to the floor. Further investigation with the broom had the same effect. Then I disabled Havok again postitioned the broom in the air, enabled Havok and made a doubleclick. The broom felt to the floor.

I have not figured out yet 100% how it should work but there are Havok effects. It's only different to use.

So now the question is, was this intended, or is it a "feature"?

Without documentation hard to say. Havok was pretty tricky in the old GECK. A update was made to a new Havok version for the engine as we know.

So there is a possibility that they changed the GECK user interface for Havok too.

Personally I liked how it was with Fallout 3 (and Oblivion) so I hope this is a "feature" so we can hopefully get it fixed.

If there is more work to be done over Fallout 3 method, then we need some documentation. Bethesda was kind enough to give us a whole wiki for Fallout 3, so some info on what is new with NV GECK would be really helpful.

The only time I can get lights to render properly is when I first load an interior. The moment I do anything connected with lights/lighting/light markers etc after that and it's gone.

I had the same problem current workaround is this:

1.Finish placing 99% of everything before worrying about lighting.

2. Place your lights where you'd like them.

3. Select all objects in the scene, move them slightly. Then Ctrl-z (undo) them back.

For what ever reason the lighting doesn't update unless an object is moved slightly.

I used this method for lighting my building mod, annoying but better than reloading the geck each time.

Thanks, that method worked. But is there no other way of going about fixing this?
