Linwe's Armor and the Thieves' Guild

Do I have to be doing the quest for the thieves' guild to get this armor, or can I waltz into his cave and take it anytime I want?

He only appears after you get the Winterhold city quest from the thieves' guild after doing 5 jobs in Winterhold for Delvin/Vex. So yeah, you have to join the thieves' guild. I don't think you have to complete the entire questline, although i'm not sure.

This. ...but it's so close to then you might as well finish it. :P

In case you didn't know: you can Disenchant Linwe's Armor (duplicate it first ) and get 4 Enchants that you can't put on anything. :D :P

The enchantments aren't unique at all anyway, so it's no big deal really.

Serethil, they forgot the "MagicDisallowDisenchant" keyword on the armor pieces. It's not a big deal, and it wasn't intentional. Don't always assume the worst.

Well, I don't care one way or the other, but this sort of stuff is just silly. If you're not going to put something usable in the game then DON'T DO IT AT ALL.

Really. They forgot. Oh - gosh.... that must be because 11/11/11 came a year sooner than they figured on?

Nah, really I don't care as I don't do much with enchanting. And "those" enchantments wouldn't be anything I'd use anyway. Still, it's lackadaisical....

Cowl, boots and gauntlets look good when paired with the ebony mail. Also, the cowl doesn't clip with heavy armors and other clothes due to its shape. The enchatments are also useful, not top of the line but stll handy.

The Bond of Matrimony does this as well.
