List selectioncursor issue

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 9:23 am

When selecting through a list of items or conversation options I sometimes get a problem where the cursor will move and not properly display the current selection. My quick search for this issue only found mention of it with an XBOX 360 version.

Details:
After selecting a speech option from a list which causes an NPC to speak and then return to the same list the selected speech option will remain centred in the UI to indicate it is selected, however, what is actually selected is an above option (possibly the first on the list) which is indicated by the lighter font colour. If the list of options is extensive enough this can cause the actually selected option to not be included in the visible section of the list and requires to scroll up and down many times before the UI indicates selections properly again.

This also happens in the inventory. When moving an item from my inventory into a storage chest it will move the item over and remove the item from the list causing the list of items to centre on the next item. However, the item above the moved item is the one that is actually selected which is indicated by a lighter text colour as mentioned above. Also, when moving over a stack of items that is less than 6 (so they are moved over singly) a single item will be moved and the rest will remain but the selection still moves to the item above. When I then press down to get back to the stack of items the cursor will stay on them as I move over the rest.

I believe this also happened when using the menu and looking through the list of quests.

Has anyone one else been experiencing this issue?

Thank you for any help

Yes, getting this too, which is annoying during conversations and could potentially have you say something you really don't want to - I thought it was maybe to do with the mouse cursor not sitting on the same line as the arrow-to-choice (for want of a better description), so if it's above or below the line you have scrolled the arrow to, the game chooses the answer/ item the cursor is on rather than what you have lined up - bit of a waste of a chat interface if it doesn't do what it looks like it should.

It's a common UI issue. Try the mod SkyUI. They have fixed the inventory but haven't gotten to the conversation UI yet.
