Am I literally the only one with no problems on the challeng

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:28 am

I'm the type of guy that plays easy -> normal -> hard. So what I'm wondering is if everybody else did the same and still had all this trouble with the challenges? 'Cause I found them fairly easy. I don't mean to rub it in or anything, but I just want to know what sets me aside from everybody else...which is probably the fact that I'm playing on easy.

Nah, you're not the only one. I have no idea why people are having such a hard time with them. Ran through them all in no time, without deaths. I thought they should rename them tutorials, instead of challenges.

I haven't tried them on easy, I'm going through on hard. I aced Parkour this (with 1 second left on 3 star, but still a finish) and got through all the 2 star challenges except Be More whatever it is, then my wife came home and I stopped playing.

A lot of it on hard will depend on the character you have developed and certain character builds will clearly make it easier (Engineer Op seems to be the way to go).

I havnt had too much trouble with the challenges (except be more objective since the friendly AI dont do much of anything). I actually like the tower defense and escort challenges alot.

Challenges were extremely easy. Got all the 1 and 2 star done on first try.

Well the challenges are fairly easy UNLESS you are playing co-op where they are ridiculously hard IMO

One-star challenges are basically meant to be tutorials. Two-star starts getting tricky.

The strange thing is that on Tower Defense, I don't think I convinced my turret to shoot even a single round, and the enemy didn't trip a single mine, but it still wasn't hard.

Be More Objective 2 Star friggin' pisses me off. The enemy bots only focus on me, it feels like, and they really, really, REALLY INFURIATE ME.

I'm ok with the campaign on Easy, beat the Resistance campaign (except for What If: Operation Babel) last night and that was kinda fun. But I can't handle Normal. The enemy bots are crazy godmodded and the friendly bots were nerfed into uselessness. Sometimes it happens on Easy too, particularly in Security "Early Launch" but that I think is more of a level design issue; that first objective is damn near impossible to get for me since it's open to three fields of fire and my bots have no concept of "team coordination" and "defense".

Back on topic: I really want the Speed Slings. But I just can't frikkin' do it. I'll get to the Operative objective (with some difficulty) and then I'll just get completely shut out. Their Engineers kill my hackbox while I'm hacking, and my bots seem to refuse to kill them, so in the time it takes for me to switch from the PDA to the weapon and fill them with bullets, they will have destroyed the hackbox AND their team (which consists of several Heavies when I'm using a new character that as only done the first star version of the same challenge, mind you, so I call [censored] on that anyway) will promptly mow my ass down.

More than a little frustrating. I'd appreciate any advice, but I've looked up several walkthroughs and well, the Operative challenge is as far as I can get regardless of tactics.

I had no real problems with any of the 2 star missions, and just barely finished the Parkour's 3 star.

Funny thing, I hadn't even gotten turrets yet, and I still passed the 2 star on my first try with just a mine. Sure, the bots took the command post near the end, but I just took it back rather easily.

I don't think you can choose to do challenges on easy medium and hard difficulties.
I think that 1 star is easy, 2 stars is medium, and 3 stars is hard, right? it makes sense! and i see no where that you can change the difficulty except the # of stars
The difficulty people are experiencing is due to the fact that for some people the team AI don't help at all
I've noticed that when i was playing my friendly AI did nothing but when my friend played his friendly AI did a good job, weird

Perhaps difficulty is a matter of my level (I'm going through at a higher level) as the first few times I played the enemies did nothing in the way of using abilities, but when I started using turrets so did they.

I played Be More Objective 2* today on my friend's system with his level 3 and shot right through it.

You can't change the difficulty of challenges. You beat them on 1 star, which unlocks the 2 star difficulty, which then unlocks the 3 star difficulty. Other than that there is no "hard" or "easy" option.

But anyways, BaconPrince, I've had no problem with the challenges whatsoever......except the 2 star Be More Objective. I STILL haven't beaten it, and I must've played through it like 15+ times. I've only gotten past the hack objective once. Whose idea was it that 8 vs. 4 was fair? WTF

I believe bot difficulty is based off level. I was having problems with my 11 heavy on the 2* objective. Made a new character and rolled through 2* in 3 tries, 3* got it on the first. All the others with the exception of tower defense 3* I blew through.

Tower defense 3* was a pain once you hit the 3rd phase and it's 9v1 ><

This is what I'm thinking. I wasn't sure if the settings I had for the rest of the game carried over, but I went through the campaign before I did most of the challenges (except a few select ones to unlock certain gear I wanted) and I noticed a distinct difference after I went back and again when I tried on my friends today (we did the challenges first).

I'm in the same boat. I got to the level 2 challenges (level 3 on the Parkour This challenge) and I can't beat the rest. The bot allies are totally ****ing stupid and don't help you at all. I know they're not supposed to, but they're at least supposed to distract the enemies so that I can do the objectives myself, but they just stand there getting themselves killed. What's worse, I completed Be More Objective level 2 and level 3 online with 4 randoms and... IT DOESN'T UNLOCK ANYTHING. They want us to beat them offline, solo to unlock stuff. That's bull****.

Interestingly, I didn't even beat the level 3 Parkour This challenge and it's giving me credit for beating it. I clearly ran out of time before finding the 7th checkpoint and quit after that.

Splash Damage needs to fix this crap so it's FAIR.

I am in exactly the same boat as you. I rocked all of the other challenges with no problems, but this one is impossible for me. Every so often I can get to the Operative portion relatively fast, but after that I'm completely shut down.

I got thru them all relatively easy... I would say that Parkour was probably the hardest.

I finally lucked out. The bad guys ignored my hackbox and I was able to complete the hack (at the expense of my own life, twice). The intel bit was a little tricky because they choked the single exit, but on the next spawn I killed them all first and the rest of it was fine.

In case it helps, I used a new character, Medium build, with the Mossington shotgun and the CARB-9 SMG as a secondary. I went for the most damaging, highest rate of fire, and close-quarters as I could to clear out the enemy. Even then, like I said, I relied upon a great deal of luck I have never seen before or since. I can only hope you all experience that luck too.

I went through with my new guy at level one and he knocked it out very quickly, although for some reason it still felt harder than when I did it on my friends game yesterday.

did you beat 2-star "Be More Objective"?

After a dozen attempts varying between brand new characters and my one highly developed character, yeah I finally did. See the post above yours as to how I did it.

I had no problem on the 2* ones, but the 3* are a pain. my advice? Get a ub grenade laucher - when they group up (as the AI in this game often does) nade em quick. If you don't have a UB launcher, make sure to cook nades so they can't run. Grenades got me thru BMO 2&3 star and tower defense 3*
