It's hardly different, I'd say people like it because it isn't full of the postmodern crap and scatalogical humour that infests most children's cartoons these days. Its quite traditional really.
If it was just a southern accent it would be one thing, but her entire character character is just one giant southern hick stereotype that it's sad.
I've gotten used to the sterotypes. Northeners here aren't allowed on TV unless we're plucky but depressed miners, loveable chain smoking skinheads, or dinnerladies dispensing old fashioned grit and northern justice to school bullies.
