Living in a Dungeon

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 12:42 am

So, after some good success on a previous topic, I have another question.

I know that dungeons get marked as cleared, but that they also respawn mobs after a certain time. My question is if anyone knows if there are any dungeons that do not respawn, regardless. I like the idea of an evil character basically having a lair to live in and such. Anyone have any suggestions?

An interior cell shouldn't reset if you visit it regularly, so any one of them should work.

But in terms of a cell that doesn't reset, Saarthal is very vacant and there's are plenty of empty interior cells in Blackreach (interior cells within an interior cell's interior cell, cellception) that have the essentials.

Depending on how you complete the quest....Elder gleam? Though that place is very pretty and I suppose not very befitting for a lair dweller.

THIS!
As long as you revisit before 30 in-game days pass they won't respawn.

Okay, good to know, thanks! My next question. Is it possible to put things in dungeon containers and they not disappear? That's what I'm worried about. I'd like to find a dungeon that has an arcane chanter and lab as well.

I just figured a necromancer type character isn't going to live in a big old manor in Solitude.

False, the sneakiest necromaner can hide his necromancy from the public and perform it in his house and take victums

They will respawn so its not safe to store anything in those containers. There is a PC console command to change ownership of containers which will prevent this however im unsure if it works the same in caves and dungeons, though I have used it successfully in other overworld areas like drelas's cottage.

Whether a container respawns isn't affected by who owns it. That's governed by a separate setting that's impossible to change from the console, as far as I know.

Set ownership target command has and still is working for me in drelas cottage. My boyfriend currently uses anises cabin with no problems still. But I figure with dungeons it may be different but its not the same the world over as a whole.

Some containers might not have been set to reset in the first place, but it's a matter of luck finding one. And yes, the reset timers might also change depending on the container and/or it's location.

Which is why im leary myself on dungeon containers. I wonder though, if you placed a chest via console id whether it would be marked for a respawn or not. Would it be dependent on the cell its in or would it be safe?

The cave where the ruefull ax is might be a good candidate. It has a nice foyer, enchanting table and a bedroom. I think that once you kill it's occupant it remains empty.
Oh yeah, a nice altar of sacrifice too.
