Living in the City : Othor Games

I love living in a city, even if I don't live downtown near all the skyscraqers anymore. Small towns drive me crazy. I love the compact feeling of a city, and I love walking around in a city and being just another face like the dozens of other people on the same sidewalk. That may sound weird, but I like it more than seeing the same residents of a small town over and over again. A few months ago I had to stay in Pacifica, CA for a month and the fact that the only stores were either a 20 minute walk away, or a 30 minute bus ride away from a stop in front of those stores, made me desperate to get out of there. Note that I didn't have a car so walking was my only option.

I understand not liking the hustle and bustle of the city but I love it.

If all goes well i will have a job lined up before i go to the city. I dont think i will move to SF unless i have a job for sure. I am going wherever i get a job, but i am majoring in business accounting and there are a bunch of firms in SF so thats where i am expecting to go.

When do you expect to graduate Antibody?

i am going into my 3rd year and i am 85% sure i will be done in 4 years. Hopefully over next summer i can intern somewhere and maybe ill be offered a job there for after college or the experience i get from it will help me find a job elsewhere. This is a lot of hoping from me i know but im trying my best to get my own place as soon as i can and SF seems like it would be a good experience as well haha.

Do you know anything about Daly City also? Those apartments seem to be a lot cheaper and it is a pretty close commute to sf, easy public transportation.

When I started I expected to graduate in 2014 (after starting in 2010), but I'd be very surprised if that happens. Instead it'll be maybe 2015, or even later. Graduating in 2014 would mean taking a number of classes per semester that would just make things too intense, and expensive, for me to handle.

And unfortunately I don't know much about Daly City, I've only been to a handful of places there and have never stayed in it for more than a few hours at a time.

I don't live in a city, but I wouldn't call it a "small town", and there are tons of stores only 5 or 10 minutes away.

I live in one of the top 150 largest cities in the US, but there is a difference between living in a city and living in a huge city with a million+ people living in it.

Never lived in a city, but spend quite alot of time in my grandparents condo in Coconut Grove, Miami. I love it. Don't think I'd like to live there though. I feel more at home in quiet places like out on the Keys (not Key West, too many tourists).

I live in one of the top 150 largest cities in the US, but there is a difference between living in a city and living in a huge city with a million+ people living in it.

What point are you guys trying to make? All I did was state my preference, as you two were. I'm not criticizing your towns or anything...

Pretty much the same. The advantages you listed apply to a lot of places, not just huge cities.

Ah, well I didn't really think I had to worry about being specific, I thought people would assume I didn't mean there are only cities and only small towns. I'd make a post being more specific but I wasn't exactly looking to get into a discussion about it.

I grew up in a big city; currently living in a glorified country town (a few hundred thousand people). Visit big cities every chance I get. I prefer the big city lifestyle - the food, the coffee, the bars, the live music, the liveliness, having lots of attractions within walking/biking distance, having regularly itinerant events such as art exhibitions and music festivals...

Of course, smaller urban areas can have all these things too. And there's no guarantee that larger cities will have them either. But, statistically....
