Well in my honest opinion it's TOTALLY AWESOME!... Except for unbalanced weapons, biased story, little exploration, bugs, glitches.

Gamemastr35 Oh no you didn't! :nono:

But yeah if you played FO3 and loved it then do some research on New Vegas before buying it because while the gameplay and graphics is the same a lot of other things aren't.

Thanatos No. It's a truly awesome game but it has it's annoyances too.

It's not perfect (what game is), but it's probably the game I've enjoyed the most over the past...I dunno...3-5 years or so at least.

nothings perfect

How about style.....I know its the same general engine as fo3 but since black isle was involved in a sense, did it try to adopt some old style fallout into it.....assuming you played the older fallouts

I loved the old games....but i also really loved fo3 alot

Yeah uhm, a lot of trivial quests are in.
Reputation system is back.
Strength requirement for weapons is back.
A lot of dialogue on locations and events from the old games.
Weapon mods are back.
Active companions are back. (they have their own questlines)

Overall I think it is a very good game with MUCH MUCH BETTER writing and voice acting than FO3. Seems that baddies to kill are somewhat lacking, but then I am used to having MMM increased spawns running too. There is plenty of exploration to be done, and Factions really matter, as well as reputation within certain factions can determine their actions toward you. Karma really doesn't matter in New Vegas too much, and can largely be ignored.

The game is not without problems though, as previously mentioned, energy weapons seem a bit underpowered and the game does have it's fair share of bugs, some of which have been pretty game breaking. Plenty of bugs have been fixed though, and more are sure to come.

All in all, with such a well written game and such replayability, and even though it outshines FO3 in numerous ways, I still prefer FO3 a bit more.

IMO: New Vegas is more than worth playing. if anyone is on the fence on whether or not they want to try it out, in my personal opinion, they should check it out.

Yes. The writings and quests are in the style like that of the older predecessor. There really isn't an absolute good and evil as all factions has their flaws. Then there the fact that a pacifist run is possible again, the Brotherhood of Steel went back to the root of being a Technological Cult, some weapons reappear in game (like the Plasma Caster aka the Turbo Plasma Rifle), traits return, etc.

Oh, and they nerf VATS a bit but added in iron sight (which is REALLY helpful).

Hey floyd......sounds good......and yeah Fo3 was prime to me, so even if vegas has some good stuff, i don't know if it'll top my Fo3 fun....but i'm not really on the fence, i have no choice but to get the game.

I do like to wait a couple months after release to buy games tho.....i hate theta testing games....I like starting my game experience with bugs fixed already.

IIRC they made headshots a little more difficult to have a successful hit with (in order to balance it and let the player use it more strategically.)
And they removed the 90% damage reduction since it was too powerful in FO3.

Yeah, they nerfed VATS a bit, But IMO you shouldn't be invincible while in VATS anyway, so I kinda like the change. Oh, and about the ironsights... from what I have seen so far, the laser rifle and maybe the laser pistol doesn't have ironsights for some reason.

EDIT: oh yeah, and they added the cinematic kill cam. Kinda cool, but does get annoying at times. I think it can be disabled in the menu settings though.

EDIT EDIT: I see you lurking LLAMA :P

Long Range to Medium Range, Iron Sight shines. Heck, head shot are still lethal.

Short Range or the fact ya surrounded, VATS act as a breather and is still pretty effective. There are perks that would make the VATS system more useful than it already is. Oh, I forgot to mention one thing about perks. Almost like the previous Fallout games, it would take more than 1 level to get a perk. In this case, 1 perk for every 2 Level. They remove the many +x skill perk and added in much more useful one that would help define a Character Build.

Cinematic kill cam??? Is that something that shows your real time kills in a cinematic cut scene or something? I don't know.....I'd still rather just use pure vats when i can.

And if Llama was lurking she better throw down 10 paragraphs of knowledge for me on vegas.....don't go hiding girl, I'm counting on your insight the most......and ghouls'........go get her ass over here to start typing too

I honestly liked Fallout 3 better since it was built better for exploration but I've spent more time playing New Vegas, (actually haven't stopped since it came out) so it's more replayable than Fallout 3 despite the emptiness.

Actually the game feels a lot better than Fallout 3 after you played F1 and F2.
