Load Screens (Bring Your Lunch)

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 7:36 am

I loved Dead Rising and played it again recently before DR2 was released. I think it's handled way worse on F:NV, especially when you fast travel a lot.

Get to a place, loading loading loading, play one second to enter a door, loading loading loading, play 15 second enter another door, loading loading loading, play and talk for a minute, get again back to the door, loading loading loading, hopefully can fast travel from there, but then again...loadingloadingloading.

I love the comfort on playing console, but F:NV should be played on a decent PC. In case of loading times it reminds me so much on the awesome Vampire Bloodlines, which got into a loadingscreen after every door or pretty much everything.

They improved the loading in Dead Rising 2.

The only loading problems I have with New Vegas is the Strip. Talented Pool made this a nightmare.

As a PC player I to load within <10 seconds. Sadly the controller went in my SSD and I have to RMA it. :( *hugs dead SSD carcass*

I learned my lesson with Morrowind, never buy the console versions if you have a capable PC! (Which I didn't, until Morrowind pushed me to build one.)

They improved the loading in Dead Rising 2.

Not really if you installed DR1 on harddrive. But undienable is the fact that in DR1 the areas around the safehouse are cut into little pieces (for no apparent reason), which leads you to more loading screens. In DR2 you had to walk at least 30 seconds to go near any are where a loading screen appear.

I didnt have the problem early on, since you had to explore the mojave wasteland, but after 15-20 hours at least I tend to fasttravel a lot more.

im on a ps3 and tha loading screens never take longer than 20-30 seconds most of the time they dont even show up when i exit or enter a door/room i think its a glitch but its pretty awesome cause i just walk through and im instantly on the other side.

It's gotta be your PC buddy, the longest I've ever waited was 4 seconds.

I play on a xbox360 and it’s the same here, never waited longer than half a minute. As you say, small areas are open instantly and exit is also very fast. But when you doing lots of fast travel you get lots of loading screens and you get the feeling you play 20 seconds and wait 2 minutes. ^^

The worse implementation of load screens (beyond the length of time) is that the developers have forced you to go through them multiple times in a short span... Why do I have to fast travel to Crimson Caravan (wait through a long load screen) only to arrive OUTSIDE and have to wait through another load screen as I enter. Or the Strip... Why can I not Fast Travel to the Lucky 38? I have to fast travel to the North Gate and then go through another load screen to get onto the Strip? Why?
