Lokir of Rorikstead? Why Execute Him?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 3:43 pm

It might be as simple as they just *asked* his name during the arrest, before he realized he was going to be executed anyway. The Dragonborn was conveniently unconscious and couldn't answer.

actually, this is a valid point.

They assumed he was a Stormcloak spy.

As to how they knew his name? Well...I have no idea. They could've compiled a list, but it would have been sloppy work when they apparently miss Dragonborn and don't bother demanding his/her name.

As for Ulfric, remember that Stormcloak dude who walked forward in the middle of the priest's sermon? They decided to oblige him by skipping the last rites and proceed with the execution. Of course, after that, they should've gone after Ulfric, not us.

How did they know Lokir's name and village? Isn't it obvious? They already asked him. Why did they not know your name yet? That's obvious too. What's the first line of the game?

"Hey you, you're finally awake."

They can't ask you, if you're unconscious, and no one else seems to know who you are.

We don't know what the list signifies. Possibly it's the list made when you were all arrested, and since you were unconscious at the time, you didn't give your name.

Edit: rajendra beat me to it!

Just basic empire philosophy.

Better to imprison/execute 10 innocent men than let 1 guilty man go free.

Why do you think the hero of each TES game is always a prisoner(Save for the DF agent)?

Off topic but I always laugh when the archers kill him and as he's falling to the ground his hands are magically unbound.

Same happens to the player character if Alduin sends you flying before you enter Helgen keep. The camera goes to 3rd person and you get up with your hands unbound. Then it returns to 1st person and your hands are bound again.

Ralof was calling him a horse thief at the beginning so maybe he stole an Imperial's horse? That plus the Captain there seemed to be already aggravated by something.

Simple answer..they thought he was in the stormcloaks. They dont care if he was just steeling a horse...he was in a bad place at the wrong time.

Maybe Beth did it simply because they could? I do that often, like throwing rocks at walls simply because I can. Or drawing with a pen on the blackboard.

But as someone said early on, I think he was caught in the middle of it just like you.

Why was the Legion going to execute him for stealing a horse while when the dragonborn steals a horse, he only gets a bounty of... 50 gold? umm..

After talking with Hadvar later, it's implied that everyone on that carriage was suspected of being one of Ulfric's top lieutenants. Hadvar says that the ambush was laid to capture him, and he says (paraphrasing): "You were just crossing the border? You were telling the truth," implying that during interrogation it was believed that Lokir and the player were in league with Ulfric.

edit: grammar

Because... It makes for a dramatic game beginning and easily develops the character of the Legion?

You all have it wrong. They weren't going to execute him for stealing the horse, they were executing him for what they caught him doing with the horse. It just ain't right.

Honestly.. when i Played it...

I was thinking why they didn't off Ulfric from start...
Then I remembered the one guy steps forward during preist talking...

I bet that guy wishes he'd kept his mouth shut now. If he'd let the priest ramble on for just a minute he would still be alive today.

The Stormcloaks have an Imperial mole.
Ralof seems geniunly puzzled as to how the Imperials knew where they where. So apparently they were being careful in their movement and not lollygaggin about.
Whoever the Mole was provided a list to the Imperials after the ambush. which did not include you because He/she did not know you

The question is - how can a person die by getting shot in the heel?

On my 475 restarts he ALWAYS dies by an arrow in the heel or foot.

Also if it wasnt obvious to everyone; Tullius wants Ulfric dead last because:

1: He wants Ulfric to watch his men suffer and die.
2: Tullius want to save Ulfric for last to gloat and enjoy the victory.

When you have a meal of delicious stuff on your plate you always eat the best parts last, I know I do xD
