LOL, have you had this happen....?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:46 pm

The garbage began with having issues with the game registering all three companions at the fountain. Ok I said, no big deal. I'll finally download the patch that disables the unlimited caps bug and I'll be ok.

Well after downloading that, I can't get into the BOS bunker to even begin the DLC content. So I then have to go back, delete the patch, get into the bunker, save my progress, and finally re-install the patch before it finally overcomes the fountain glitch.

So I finish the Sierra Madre missions and leave the Villa area to collect my belongings and return to the Mojave Wasteland. Oh but wait....I now need a key (which doesn't exist) to climb the ladder to return.

I'm trapped in the bunker with no way out. Thanks Bethesda for selling me a frustrating and regretful add-on.

I would have uninstalled, then reinstalled the DLC after installing the patch.

On PS3, delete the game data utility. Its completely unrelated to your save games, as you can see them in another folder. After deleting the utility, start the game and don't let it get any patches. See what happens in game. If it's not fixed, download the patches. If it's still not fixed, I dunno.

Glad you eventually got out, but yeah the forums specifically mentioned that you should have had the patch before you downloaded, installed and started playing the DLC, or else you'd run into problems, so you can't really blame Bethesda for that. You can blame them for the glitches in the first place if you'd like, but since you were enjoying unlimited caps by not patching in the first place, you couldn't have been too upset by them.
